  1. Still snowing here but fairly light - some surfaces starting to thaw v slowly - guess temp rising slowly and dew points up i would think. Covering of snow but nothing to write home about. I suspect we're on the edge here for next few hours - turning to rain/sleet soon maybe?
  2. Fair do's. Watching the horse racing at the mo and up at Wolves it's absolutely belting it down with snow - shame it can't get here. Moderate snow here at the mo - nice covering for now.
  3. Is it? I thought the raintoday radar is on a 15-minute 'almost live' loop. I think by now if it was going to stall this far west we'd have known - eastern counties and home counties going to get heavy snow tonite i reckon.
  4. Looking on raintoday looks like a warm sector with rain is poised in the BTL channel - maybe an hour or so away? Hopefully our time will come during the week - seems to be a lot of confidence from some of the main 'players' on NW of an interesting period coming up.
  5. Heavier snow - we have a covering even on the pavement and road.
  6. Nothing like that here in North BTL - in fact the snow falling is quite pathetic really!
  7. Light snow in Stoke Gifford, North BTL - no settling yet - how long is it meant to last as snow?
  8. V light snow here at the mo in North BTL - a couple of miles from the M4/M5 interchange
  9. Further West - Ian F just tweeted that just east of Bath into Wilts will get a decent dumping as well - means we in Bristol will miss out!
  10. Snowing in newport just over the severn bridge - not far away. Despite my earlier gloom Chino has updated in Strat Warming thread - February looks v interesting! Add your location into your avatar
  11. Cheers. I believe next week's not looking great either - oh well, roll on Spring - for all this splitting of the PV, Strat warming, etc, etc it's not really delivering the goods here is it? Worst winter in years for snow here- ranks alongside the 90s and early noughties - simples! Couple with that the fact that the below zero temps have screwed my Saturday horse racing! Edit: BBC weather just now shows snow for BTL for one hour - whoopy doo! another larry let-down!
  12. Just logged on - any change from last night for today or are we just expecting a few hours of the white stuff before it rains?
  13. I bet i know them. Sounds like 30/31 Dec 1978 or mid-Feb '78. the Dec one someone smashed into a fence on that hill, off a sledge - ambulance came, badly injured. Winter of 78/79 was my best winter - numerous blizzards - proper blizzards.
  14. You must have been one of the first - my mates went to Grange as HH wasn't built then.
  15. My old stomping ground - born and bred - parents and couple of my bruvs still live there
  16. Looks like i'm right on the edge there - but latest GFS shows our old friend/foe the Azores High getting close to the UK again early next week.
  17. Indicates slight West movement and/or stalling nearer to far East of our region?
  18. Ian Fergusson's latest tweet (few mins old) says new UKMO forecasts more for Wilts and Glos than previous run - indicates slight West movement and stalling further West maybe? Not good enough for me but an interesting late development - blocking stronger?
  19. Just a little bit more West please. Are we going to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat at the last min?
  20. Keep us updated on NAE Paul - updates and your opinion well appreciated
  21. Agreed. Swindon area could do Ok out of this i think
  22. This is different though. We basically have a front south to north in a straight line coming in - there's no angle or slider movement, so that's one reason it's slightly easier to predict. If you go back 48 hrs the exact position of snow was up in the air but it was showing the same 'sweet spots' as tonite's forecast for Sat eve/Sun morn. It's actually been pretty rock solid this last 48hrs.
