  1. Mini-monsoon here in north Bristol this morning - repeat/rinse from last night at around 19.30 - that rain was absolutely torrential, thunder & lightning as well.
  2. And there's plenty of those on here ..hoping to grab their 15 mins of 'fame'!
  3. Always worth remembering that these are only computer outputs!
  4. It would be interesting to read Stewart's thoughts - i think that last week he was expecting improvements pretty soon.
  5. Is this some kind of joke post? It's 1st August today. Remember last year? - i was sitting in temps of 24c at 9.00pm 1st week of Oct at Bristol Harbourside - admittedly that was exceptional, but to write off the rest of August and September at this stage is just plain daft....or just an attempt to wind people up.
  6. I think you were writing if off and hinting at it being as bad as June/early July - i hardly call a sunshine and showers scenario a 'write off' - granted there's no hint of a sunny, hot spell but i'd hardly call it a write off. I suppose it boils down to what people view as a "write off".
  7. That's a brave call forecasting ahead, for the next 15/16 days.
  8. No where near as bad as June and 1st half of July, for those of us in the South though - sunshine and showers with temps around normal for August i'd think.
  9. Seems like latest model output means things shouldn't be all doom and gloom for August as some were posting on here a day or so ago. I'll stick to my forecast of a couple of days ago, for next week, as sunshine and showers and about normal temps, esp for the south.
  10. I'm seeing uncertainty beyond next weekend - and if i was a betting man i'd go for a mix of sunny, warm days and showery days for next week - meanwhile looks like we'll have a week of warm and sunny weather (certainly here anyway). A vast improvement on June and early July - and more typical of a British Summer P.S. I never expect more than a few days of clear blue skies and warmth(Heat) in the UK.
  11. Interesting! Having read some posters on here earlier today one would've thought the hot weather was a "blip" - if these charts verify in the coming days it'll be the wet weekend breakdown that could be the "blip"!
  12. Another 5 days of lovely sunny, warm weather to come on top of last 2 days - a decent summer scenario for summer in the South and pretty normal really. No sign of really prolonged wet weather to come - well nothing to compare to early July and June anyway. So add in this week's weather to what's currently forecast for next couple of weeks and i'd say it's a typical british summer - sunny, warm days mixed with showery days.
  13. Thanks GP - that feels me with more optimism. The 'inconsistency' (maybe too strong a word) in the models over the last couple of days indicates to me we MAY be approaching a change period - i think i've seen on numerous occasions over the last few years this happening before the various models eventually come to an agreed consensus on future weather patterns.
  14. On hols right now in The Algarve, Portugal - current temp at 10.00pm 27 celsius - clear blue skies all day. Beautiful! Left Bristol airport yday at 7.00am and it was 9 celsius! Looking at current model output indicates an "as you were/are scenario" for the uk for the forseeable.
  15. Gavin - do you just hit 'repeat' every few days?! I think i've been reading the same post from you for the last 4 weeks or so....well, it feels like that anyway. One day it will come true.
  16. I think the title of this thread should be altered to "Delayed Summer 2012 (will be changed back to Summer 2012 at some point......maybe!)"
  17. Really?! After being on here for a number of years now i think that's just par for the course for the model output to be honest.
  18. "Misquote" - i think that's an understatement JH. I've just read Matt Hugo's thoughts and they're screaming more of the same to me well into June but with a slow rise in temps, which would be expected for June anyway. Has Gavin D got access to a completely different version?!
  19. If the Beeb Country Tracks forecast is to be believed temps are back to normal this week - in fact in the south a little 'above' normal for 1st week of May. Still changeable weather wise with rain about but the cold seems to be forecast to disappear, until the weekend anyway.
  20. Yes, absolutely typical! Takes me back to a number of Aprils/Mays in the 80s.....i think.
  21. I knew that outside chance of warmer, settled weather had disappeared in the blink of an eye, as soon as i noticed that Gavin hadn't posted this evening!
  22. Yes i did earlier. I opened up Netweather in another window and it was OK then - weird.
  23. Can the UK professional weather forecasters actually forecast the correct weather more than12 hours in advance? This time yday eve the forecast for our area for tomorrow morning was a wintry mix - the latest Beeb forecast a few mins ago indicates the precipitation belt to be across mid-Wales and the Midlands by tomorrow afternoon and not even reaching our area?
