Wow, that was a beauty, cracking bit of thunder and lightning right now.

Just got woken up by the rain lashing against the window, checked the radar, looking rough for a few hours yet

Some of the worst weather of the Winter thus far, I didn't think it could get any worse.

Just looking at the radar, got some heavy rain moving in from the direct south into Cornwall shortly, just what we need.

Some superb timing by Mother Nature in Camborne, right on the stroke of Midnight a thunder and hail storm. Happy New Year

That squall line about to hit Bristol.

Well that was a very interesting evening, we lost power for an hour right when the squall passed through, but now it is quite calm, like nothing happened.

Area around me lost power for an hour, fair play to Western Power getting it back so quickly, was worried it was going to take a lot longer. It is absolutely brutal out there at the moment.

Rain coming in horizontal almost against my window at the moment, heaviest it's been all day.

Wind picking up here in the far South West, gave the radar a quick glance, holy smoke, this is going to be a rough ride.

Well it passed through much quicker than I thought, quite calm now.

Started to rain very hard in Camborne, I just checked the radar, in for a very rough hour or so, not that most people will notice as they are safely tucked up in bed except me.

Update from Camborne, still raining and quite windy, but I got to say this is nothing more than an average Autumnal storm that happens well, every Autumn. I suppose I got sucked into the hype and was expecting something that was a once in a generation type thing, which it is nothing of the sort. Oh well, in a few weeks I'll be getting disappointed about snow events as happens every winter. Time for bed.

Very heavy rain now and wind picked up in the last hour in the West of Cornwall.

I've just got back from Portreath beach, to be honest I was expected a bigger swell, tide was going out so not much chance to get some nice photos of the surf crashing into the pier. Light rain has just started, and not really that windy at the moment. Hope this doesn't turn into a damp squib.

Was very warm today in Camborne for the time of year, just checking in for the Winter season, hope it'll be a lot better than the last couple of years in the far South West, we deserve it.

I just got back from a drive to Truro, and very very light snow grains in the air, can't see it leading to 6 feet snow drifts though

I was just wondering when people look back at this winter will they say it's up there with some of the best for snowfall? For me this winter has been one long disappointment, it's not even been that cold in the far west. I think in total we have around 5 or 6 days when there has been a severe frost, 3 days with falling snow, and only one day with lying snow and just a dusting at that. When I look at some of the photos around the rest of the country I just wish somehow we had a little bit more of that.

I took the dog out for a walk earlier this evening and saw a snow flake or two, I guess that counts as another snow day this year for me, 3 so far this year now !!!!

This is going to turn out to be another false dawn again isn't it. I should have stayed away until next November.

Well from that South Devon is going to be in for some fun, I'm too far West to get anything from that apart from a flake or two.
