The last dangler I can remember was Nov 25 2005, that was quite a day, yep they are as rare as hen's teeth I'm afraid. Article about that day so we can see what we aren't going to get. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cornwall/content/articles/2005/11/26/snow_feature.shtml Looks like us in Cornwall will miss out in the 1st wave of this cold period, just have to hope the cold lingers around and we get a 2nd chance later on.

I just don't know wheter to give up now, even with the potential for snow in some parts of the country, again nothing for the far West. Do enjoy what you get though, build a snowman for me

Got very wet doing last minute Xmas shopping in Truro this evening, please someone tell me that Winter is not cancelled this season and I have to wait another 12 months. I know we got Jan and Feb to go but it's just looking like a mild wet winter to me now.

Is this forum going to be split into two with the upcoming event as previous years, i.e a real South West region and a real South Central region? -

Yeah I'm sick of this wet weather, bring on the cold stuff. If it was snowing as much as the rain we have had this week, we'd be six feet deep in the stuff. -

Happy new winter season folks, 1st cold spell I see coming, long may it continue, albeit won't like the fuel bill in March. -
I normally only pop into this forum during the Winter hoping for snow, but I just got to say down here in West Cornwall this evening, it is torrential rain, if only we had this in December and it was about 0C, we'd be snowed under.

South West Of England Regional Discussion Thread
kernowman replied to Jane Louise's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Is there any hope at all for a snow event in the far South West, or should I just give up and wait for next year. It's so frustrating seeing all the action about to happen in the East of the region. -

Can't believe there is going to be a snow event in the South West and Cornwall missing out. -

Oh well another non-white Christmas. Come on Jan and Feb do your worst and not wind and rain. Alas I got a feeling it's just going to be wind and rain this winter. -
Yep, I experienced Thundersnow last November, I think it was the 28th. I was helping my girlfriend get her car out of the drive, it was snowing quite heavily at around 08:00 in the morning, and then whoosh, a blinding flash and huge crack of thunder. This went on and off for another couple of hours. It was the first time I ever experienced this.

Have You Put Your Heating On Yet ?
kernowman replied to stewfox's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
My heating went on for the first time this season yesterday, it was a cold day, much warmer today so no need for the heating to be back on again. -
Regional weather discussion England, is someone having a laugh. Anyway I got sunburnt in the Lake District last week, wasn't expecting that, had my suitcase packed full of wet weather gear, and it's looking a beautiful day back home today. I guess this means Summer is going to be as bad as the last four summers.

Well after the fun and games in November and December, hasn't January and February turned out to be the biggest disappointment since the last time we all got excited about the next ice age coming. I did mention back in December that this Winter would turn out to be a let down, and so it has. Shame really I did have expectations of a 1946/1963 this year. Oh well there is always 2011/2012 to look forward too.

I predicted around Boxing day after the last cold spell that Jan and Feb would turn out to be a disappointment for snow lovers, and I got January spot on. Please let my prediction be wrong for February, but alas it won't be. This is it for another 12 months folks, just a bog standard British winter to come, wet and windy until we go into spring.
