  1. Lol,yes i bet the samaritans are over loaded with calls regarding "post model stress disorder"
  2. Amazing really from the early 90s for nearly 2 decades, we only on a few occasions got a decent North Easterly or Ely. And the models are forecasting one for next week this early in to winter, since 2009 they seem to come every year!
  3. Just a thought, with all the flooding of the meadows and fields at the moment, if the cold gets to grips by the end of next week, ice skating could be on for parts of Cambs and Maybe Norfolk.
  4. Flood meadows here are allready deep in water, this low pressure system is about as welcome as Rafa Benitez at Chelsea.
  5. Nice part of Suffolk you live there,i used to live in the Saxmunham area, worked at Sizewell B in 1992. Some of the coastal walks there are a beaut.
  6. Do love a good squall line, incoming clouds look fantastic aswell during daylight hours.
  7. Yes looking good for some excitement. Nearly got blown off my bike on way home from work.
  8. Great pics, there is something about the coast in the way that whatever the weather and time of year, it still looks stunning.
  9. Lol looks wild, i remeber one night in the 80s my sis took us to local display but it was really thick fog, thus every rocket just went up and vanished!
  10. Morning all, looks like a good day for a roast chicken, with crispy potatoes, gravy from the pan juices, with sage and onion stuffing.
  11. Yes parts of Cambs and the Fens do get snow but if its say 3" here then up the road say Northamptonshire its usually 6". Ironically the last really good Ely was as your username states "Feb 1991", i lived in Essex at the time,48 hours of continous powder snow resulted in 15" depths.
  12. Regarding attacks from the East, just to add the importance of elevation, here in the flat lands of West Cambs 99% of easterlys here are rubbish, just dry and cold, yet the peak district is as far inland but can do very well out of an easterly. Edit just as im slating my location wet snow is falling here !!
  13. Chilterns is prob highest in SE England, other than that its very flat! Your location looks great for snow, and the countryside looks amazing. Allways wanted to live somewhere with good elevation cos of snow, and the sheer beauty of the hills.
  14. Lol if asked to draw a perfect chart with a northerly for eastern parts, then that could be pretty close.
  15. Jesus, if its cold enough that would drive the mother of all snow showers down the north sea. Whatever though it will feel very raw.
  16. Yes agree in December that would be a snow fest. After a rather non eventful day weather wise, a nice sunset.
  17. If only it was December, this place would be on a meltdown!
  18. Since 1st visiting this forum in 2006, i've stopped watching weather forecasts on tv because they do not give me a proper "weather fix". The many great people on here make it such a vast pool of information, and give good in depth explanations as to what, and why the weather may do. This is a post from Old Met Man from last Saturday, "My guess is that the first sortie will more likely be from the N, as I said, so much depends on this northern block developing. Bit too early to expect any real cold yet, which is why I am following the thickness charts closely to watch for any cold pooling in the area you mention, plus the Arctic region in general. Like I said in another post, the cooling seems to be happening quite quickly. Give it a few more days and see if the longer term trends are coming into line in the model output with regard to blocking or not. Now where else would you find such a prediction that looks like it may well come off!! Well done to Old Met Man
  19. Yes indeed, lived in Essex at the time and it has to be the worst single weather event i have ever seen. One thing that allways sticks in the mind was how thick tree trunks were twisted clean in half by the wind.
  20. Please take care out there, bungee jumping not recommended during thunderstorms, and i dare say the pigs wont be too impressed either. ;-)
