  1. There is some VERY cold air in the latter part of the ECM run,be interesting to see what the 850s are. If the channel low at t192 shows at t48 then this thread will be the new rampers corner !!!
  2. well once again the ECM to brings the blocking to the party and the iberian low gives us a free bar for the night ! this would be the icing on the cake for an amazing winter of model watching.
  3. Well when it seemed a damp squib was on the cards for next week the ECM comes up with a stonker, the iberian low comes to the rescue and links up with our low ,then its bitter N/Easterlies and heavy snow.
  4. Great post this is a trend that will hopefully start to show, damage limitation for future cold outbreaks.
  5. Jesus christ has someone hacked into all of the models and altered them for fun, never seen such a change over 24 hours, JH and BFTP mentioned changes but this is just incredible.
  6. all the sleet on raintoday has turned to snow, light snow here for an hour
  7. can we catch up on sunday ? ,the front from the south seems to stall over central e/anglia , has anybody got any idea about sundays event ? by the way geat idea splitting up the threads
  8. Hopefully that long stream of snow next to the lincs coast will feed thru the wash into cambs soon
  9. Yes i can remember during the Jan 1987 Easterly in essex, snow fell from clouds from which you could see a pale outline of the moon.
  10. earlier posts suggest it wiil start to pivot west at around 10pm,but i must admit it is gaining on cambs faster than i thought . fingers crossed we might see a flake or two
  11. Is it my imagination or is the snow going to be further north than forecast ? lol 1st it was going to go north south as a front, then central southern, with a small low, now se, the plot thickens.Dont think i have ever seen such an event.Tbh i would love to have snow but its just been great watching this unfold, and who ever gets snow enjoy.
  12. Yes indeed an absolute pain to forecast, looks like the wrap around pushes heavy snow back over E/A overnight,LOL just unbelievable !
  13. Yes would have to agree there, looks like its coming towards the se,very light snow just started here. This must be one of the biggest forecast nightmares that we have ever seen.
  14. Yes Roadrunner,FEB 91 was probably my fav snow event of all,i lived in Braintree essex at the time and remember the silence in the town centre when it was rush hour, and i think the snow came mid week and stopped on the friday,48 hrs of constant dry snow was just incredible.Something even close to this would be great again.
  15. Ive seen a bit of joe b on accuweather seems to know his stuff ,is he a cold ramper, over hype type forecaster, have many of his claims come true ? what people think of this forecast he has made?
  16. The GFS 12z is a dream, may just may come true.Day after day of -10 uppers being dragged across a warm sea, lots of snow showers for everybody ,a very rare chart indeed.
  17. GFS 12Z is great for E Anglia/Kent, N/ELY,-10 uppers, long sea track, big snow showers merging in to longer periods of snow from weds.
  18. Well said ! Same for me no work no pay,if those rules applied to everyone i think people would make more of an effort to get to work.
  19. Ha ha LOL yes the reporters allways make it ! maybe they should give the schools some tips on how to drive in the snow.
  20. just got back from hampton shopping centre in p,boro been snowing since 12 ish massive flakes but very wet and struggling to settle.Hopefully better for us later wen it temps drop later.
  21. yes just looked at radar and very surprised to see how far its progressing, fingers crossed everybody
  22. Dont worry snow will turn up at short notice, its a deep cold flow from the NE. I think alot of peoples worrys stem from the fact that this is a very unusual set up,and we are used to atlantic based model forecasts that show fronts/ lows sometimes 5 days in advance, this spell is very different and remember it does not take a very active trough in cold weather to deliver alot of snow due to the type of precipitation ie roughley 1mm rain = 1cm of snow. I remember many a bbc forecast in this type of situation when snow was only forecast a few hours away.
  23. Yes started here about 10:30 ish, LOLjust stopped again and back to sleet.
