+T168 Could the GFS be lining up another attack from the south,mind though i dont know what to believe now,this is the best rollercoaster ride the models have ever taken us on.

Just watched BBC weather on the BBC weather website,they have a band of stalling snow right across wales to the essex coast ! either they will back track later today or they know something we dont.

Well if the ECM and METO charts come off times are changing for the UK winters,there was a hint of this last year in DEC and FEB,but the DEC cold spell never really got there.Its just astonishing how much blocking is taking place this winter,as a child in the 80s i remember seeing an Easterly on the BBC weather MANY TIMES and just used to to think it was a normal part of UK winters, untill 1987 when they just suddenly became very tame and infrequent.Lets just hope these charts really happen because after so many let downs, mild winters,lame easterlys,48 HR cold snaps my god we ALL deserve it.

If this comes off then once again the GFS has done very well,it picked up on the current cold spell at least a week before it started, once again it has called this one and the other models are playing catch up.

Yes good temperature difference between the 2 airmasses,and lots of moisture= very heavy snow

OMG this is nuts,as a child i used to spend hours wathing the lampost outside our house,then when i had to go to bed i used to sneak a torch upstairs and hold it against the window to see sleet or snow, it used to drive mum nuts. And yes now i also get in the car to see if any rain is turning to snow, its just now the missus thinks im nuts.

Wet snow here for last 10 mins

Yes when it all kicked off last sunday was a bit dissapointed with the dusting on monday morning,but the rest of the week has made up for that, heavy snow on mon,thurs and fri. It seems us in the west of east anglia have had an incredible week. Good to hear that you have snow again,bodes well for us further east.

Light sleet here in Alconbury cambs

Yes here in alconbury another 3 inches on top of 7 inches yesterday,just got back from work roads are chaos. Snowing lighter now.
