  1. Don't panic, we live in a temperate climate evidenced by recent horror show summers where June, July and particularly August have been grey, cool and very soggy. I'm sure our normal summer weather of 'two fine days and a thunderstorm' will be back next year.
  2. That's what a true heatwave is for me: clear blue skies and hot sun just as it was in '76.
  3. This mid-level cloud has plagued us all week. Just made it disgustingly humid rather than hot...
  4. Thanks, much appreciated. And looks like the same continental flow for the first week of August for the SE. Just love the clarity of air that direction brings.
  5. And the reason behind the cloud increasing through the middle of the day, but clear either side with certain HP systems? Purely heat related/wind direction? Much preferred the clear blue sky days back in May and June when the wind came from the east to this humid set-up. Happy for a link to read if that's easier... Thanks
  6. Complete reversal of winter when I'm desperate for cloud cover to build and bring those snow showers in from across the North sea. Now, I'm just sweating at the computer watching cloud obscure the sun...
  7. Disappointment tonight, almost in line with the great non-snow event of ‘96(?) when it was a nailed on dump by the Beeb for here, only to awake to snizzle...
  8. So what was the amber warning based on, exactly, if it wasn’t a streamer set-up?
  9. Agree with that. Has been an exceptional cold spell but nothing snow-wise compared to the totals we got here in '87 (12") and '91 (7") or the intensity. Even Feb '09 was deeper although didn't last nearly as long. But not complaining, just an observation
  10. You're just outside of it in Gillingham, but not by much and it could all easily push east. Looks like the boundary is a line from Maidstone across to Dover.
  11. No idea! Even at less than 24 hours out most pros are still unsure how far north and east it will track.
  12. Every chance for your area tomorrow and Friday as Storm Emma pushes up north and east from the south-west. Still unsure how far north and how far east it gets though. Fingers crossed.
  13. Expected to be mostly to the north and south-east of us today, although there is mention of something this afternoon. This gives a good indication to see what's coming. Just make sure you have Animation set to On. https://www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar
  14. Where’s the wind gone? Not a breath of it out there and supposed to be stronger today.
  15. Surprising 5cm or so of level snow overnight. Tend to always be on the right side of any streamer action. Looks stunning out there. But zero grit anywhere... odd.
  16. Two basic questions re the models for those with far more weather grey matter than me: 1. is the northerly track of Friday's low simply down to the lack of blocking, especially given the lack of jet energy? 2. given the stunning and comparable synoptics to '87 & '91, what is the big difference/reason between the sudden-ish shift of that block and those from the historic spells? Have a broad understanding of reading the charts just not enough (yet)... Thanks
  17. Showers now becoming more heavy and persistent here in SE London. Back roads and pavements covered. Much more like it
