  1. Weather apps are showing snow from early afternoon to 1am. Appreciate that it’ll be too warm to settle but didn’t think it was going to snow at all after this morning
  2. South Croydon- looks like it’s raining here. Probably had a couple of cms at 4am but a lot has already melted since then, so it doesn’t even look pretty. Not moaning - snow is snow. I’m sure we will eventually get a snow event that’s more what we are after.
  3. Always good to get any kind of snow but last night didn’t scratch my itch. It was too wet and looked like a thaw This morning it was interesting to see how much difference elevation makes. I live in a relatively low level for my area so I often see cars driving past from up the road with far more snow on them. Last night cars had settled snow on them before it had started to settle outside my house. What was different was my walk to the station. Just a few minutes walk but very slightly downhill - barely noticeable. Even that short distance made a huge difference in the snow. We had about a cm in favoured spots but there was little if anything just 2 mins walk away. On the train, the other side of Croydon there is nothing at all, just a frost on roofs. Lets hope tomorrow gives us a nice surprise and deeper cover than is forecast. 2010 is the last really good snowfall I’ve had
  4. Mostly stopped here in South Croydon. Lower elevation here so only a dusting and that horrid dripping sound. Hopefully Thurs will be better.
  5. As much as we are saying it’s over and some spring warmth would be awesome, it looks like we could get one final bash of this over Easter
  6. Where has our streamer gone?? So cruel. The Thames sucks. Let’s get rid of it
  7. Damn it. It’s stopped here. Oh and Yamkin stop sending your gritters outside my home. It stops the snow settling!!! ?
  8. Are we saying that an actual Thames steamer (aka 2009) is not happening. We all have different interpretations of what a true Thames streamer
  9. Would be awesome to get an actual streamer this evening. I have no skill to read charts or faxes so no idea if it’s likely but that would be the prefect end to a bizarre few weeks of weather for us all.
  10. Much heavier here. Settling on roads now. Quick depth check on the grass is 6cm. Less elsewhere. Bizarrely deeper than the other week where it’s stuck
  11. Just to remind everybody it’s March 17th. To even have powered snow falling is remarkable. Where it’s settled here I’d say it’s about 3-4cms. It’s not really managed to cover roads or pavements. Snow has fallen steadily much of the day. I know we all hoped for more and are still chasing a 2009 or 2010 but I’d rather we got that earlier in winter than now. Sure, 30cms of snow is awesome whenever but much better when it stands a chance of sticking around longer than 24hrs. Final thought is this is such a lovely regional group. Let’s not spoil it by bickering. Far more important things in life. Have lovely evenings all
  12. I can smell snow. I appreciate it’s all probably psychosomatic but I can. Whatever falls and settles the fact it’s mid March is remarkable. If it can fall again on the 30th and I have snow on my birthday that would be awesome. I will leave you all to sort that
  13. Definitely stopped here now. No matter how many times I check. Word of warning, if you have non weather fan friends over, and they bring a bottle of champagne, don’t make the first toast ‘to the Beast from the East’ - it quite simply has made things awkward and I’m not sure I’ll be seeing them again...
  14. Took myself for a final long walk in the snow. Really love walks when the snow is coming down. Now sat watching it before it stops. i don’t feel like it’s heavier than yesterday but with the wind dropped it settles so well. I’ve decided I’m now against strong winds and snow For those of us that still have snow falling, really make the most of it. Get off those radars and phones and look outside. We all know painfully well that we can’t ever tell how long it’ll be until we get this again enjoy
  15. Seems to be stopping in Croydon now. Had hoped it’d stick around a bit longer. Right, Winter 18/19 you better pick this back up when you return.
  16. Starting to turn here finally. Freezing drizzle is horrible stuff. Not a fan. Crazy week. Such high expectations but nearly always in the wrong place for the prolonged heavy falls. That said, it’s been wonderfully cold, ice days, icicles, snowed 5 days in a row and a surprise fall on weds night. Depth of snow was disappointing. Only managed 2inches which is surprising as it snowed for 5/6hrs weds and for a majority of yesterday, but that either thawed, blew around or that other term I’ve forgotten (sublimation?) my hunger for a foot of snow will have to wait till next winter now. I can only dream of experiencing what 40+cms is like.
  17. Decent snow in Croydon. As Yamkin said it’s finally covering pavements etc
  18. Small snow flakes but slightly above light in fall. That wind takes it out of you when it hits you face on.
  19. Let it continue to build east and throw in some reds so we can give our friends in the West a run for their money. Let’s all wake up to 49cms of snow and heavy snow falling. ok, I know that’s never going to happen but just imagine. Just. Imagine.
  20. Zero clue what is going on. Much as I am in life really. I’ll just keep looking out the window.
  21. Same. Really thought things were turning last night for a bullseye but it’s all just gone west! I shouldn’t really care but I am sulking today. It’s like the 90’s all over again lol
