  1. Its been the best winter I can remember since I was a kid, I think a hot summer is on the way with plenty of blocking to come. Can people post some pics of the snow from this winter so we can get this thread going again. These are from winter 2008-09
  2. Hi John, You should take a look on the model output discussion so you can get a better idea of the larger picture insted of a one day view. It looks like by the W-end we will have a raw feel to the weather with some sort of easterly wind (not the beast) and wintry showers.
  3. Cant have lying snow in march 1947 saw temps in the south of england of -21 with 40cm of snow in Birmingham. Met office go along with the idea of major blocking and below average temps.
  4. Like I was saying yesterday IF the high was 200 miles further north "BINGO" Then I saw this chart below
  5. Winter is far but over, High pressure builds over the UK next week pulling in some cold eastily winds with cold frosty nights. Look at the 850 temp below, if the high was 200 miles north and east we would have big freeze part 3 on our hands It looks like a pre christmas chart to me.
  6. What do you think of these babies, TWS & Snowman. To my untrained eye they look good for cold early March. If they come off
  7. A long way off I know, but it appears some sort of model agreement for early march. If these came off what sort of temps could we expect ?
  8. I like this chart alot. If your looking for mild and this comes along you could be waiting till April
  9. I like this chart alot If your looking for mild and this comes along you could be looking to April
  10. Looks like we are in for a soaking this week while a little way up the M1 they are going to get pounded by snow Any chance of the colder uppers reaching north bucks ?
  11. It looks to me that we get 2 bites at the cherry, 2morow we will prob get only cold rain as north of us (birmingham) could get some heavy prolonged snowfall. as the front stalls over the midlands and then heads back south friday morning we could get a decent fall of snow. I hope Do you really think we will get snow on Thursday, it looks very marginal at best for our area. I am thinking friday morning is our best hope but the snow might be a bit to wet to stick.
  12. 5c well below what it should be for this time of year and this has been one of the warmest days. I think that says it all. Bring on the beast from the east
  13. Lets hope so mate but I fear the worst for next week, its a long way out but a N'west looks on the cards. But agree its a good run from ECM 2nite, If we get the others on board I will start to get excited
  14. The snow showers are starting to pile in now off the north sea as the wind changes direction slightly to a more N'ely set up. I think the 3 counties will get at least a dusting from this 2nite, could be tricky in the morning peeps
  15. Just seen that myself mate, ECM 12z on board also, 3 days ago we had a brief northerly then mild dross. The upgrade is AMAZING I think I may be dreaming. If we get the beast back after the northerly how long do you think it will last for ?
  16. Deff a northerly at the end of the week, could be a good one too that lasts a few days, prob only convection snow for the north & east coasts but u never know. off to the pup now to get some lunch
  17. No snow for the next few days and getting a bit milder mid-week, the fun and games start towards the end of next week Edit: Country file weather say +6 for next Fri, bit strange
  18. Agree, I think all the models look fantastic up to 180 hours and after this its unreliable. We need to forget about the recent cold spell and start comparing the output to winters past. apart from a mildish interlude mid-week we are in a cold flow with a massive pool of cold air to our north east, We should be jumping up and down
