  1. I have been browsing through weather sites for a couple of days now, and there are that many model outputs some saying one thing some saying the opposite who do you belive, in my experience the weather change's at will and that is the way it will always be, the forcast should never more than 3-4 days ahead of it'self all long range forcasting is pure quesswork. (simple's)

I dont tend to look at the model output to much but just read the posts on the model output discusion of the people who know

    their stuff.

The BBC are pritty good with their forecasting most of the time, they have a balanced view smile.gif

  2. would anyone agree that the trends and models we are seeing now look very similar to last decembers before the last severe cold spell hit, as what we have current seems to be a copy more or less prior to it. Think things will change pretty quick from tuesday.

See my previous post on this page, I think a euro high forming will give us mildish weather for a time but then ridge slightly north

alowing cold air to pour in, but not till the end of the month, What do the experts think ?pardon.gif

  3. I'm dreading going to work this week. I'm a postie and I hate it having to work out in the ice. I hope my manager watches the forecast and makes a sensible decision, though give him his due he did keep us in for a couple of days the week before xmas as it was treacherous underfoot. Its a shame there is no legislation about people keeping there paths and the pavements outside their properties clear. Sorry OT oops.gif

Trouble is mate if you put salt on your path or try to clear the snow and it ices up and someone falls on it you are liable for

damages as YOU have created the hazard. I never clear the snow on my path for this reason. nonono.gif

  4. If the meto are not posting warnings for snow in your area for this week it meens very little, accurate snow forecasting from an e'ly can only

be done at about 24 hours max. If you got snow from the pre xmas e'ly or last jan you will prob do well again. If you live on the eastern side

of britain you should see some snow but you wont get 4 days notice with snow from the east.

  5. Hi all, I must say that we were never really going to get any real snow from this as it was very marginal and all the meto warnings are

just to cover their own backs. Next week looks interesting and I dont think we should write off the ECM output that brings seriously

cold weather to our parts. My current record low is -9.6 and I think this may well be topped by the end of next week. The sort of temps

these charts are showing have been to these parts on many ocassions so why not again cold.gif

  6. By the looks of models, ECM, JMA, GEM, GME & UKMO, the much colder feed really looks like filtering over the UK. I expect GFS to follow suit very soon. Exciting times ahead yahoo.gifclap.gifcold.gifcold.gif

I agree with this, Its now looking like a major snow event is on the cards for many of us from tuesday onwards. All the models apart from

the GFS bring some very cold air over the UK for a long period, this could be a very memorable event if you like snow and cold.

A winter to remember me tink !!!!!!drinks.gifdrunk.gifcold.gifcold.gifcold.gif

  7. We have had the snowfall of a lifetime here in the Chilterns, it has been stunningly beautiful for days. Chucking it down with vile rain at the moment washing away any chance of lying snow for Christmas mad.gifwallbash.gifwallbash.gif ....We also had a huge flash of lightning and a roll of thunder too.

When I left for work this morning it was -8.5 with freezing fog, Just had heavy rain and its +2 sad.gif But it will be back for the new year.

I agree it has been an amazing snow event for Bucks.
