  1. 3.3 deg.C in my location any fallen snow has long gone. The light snowfall today did'nt bother me much, as I only got an extremely light dusting.
  2. Yeah you're part is doing well mate. Certaily the most favourable location. Check out my earlier forecast over the next few days. The ones I have done so far hae been suprisingly accurate. Although in my forecast from last night: (1) I sligtly under-estimated how much snow there would be. (2) Did'nt forecast to come as far west as it has, granted that here it has been extremely light in nature.
  3. WEATHER FORECAST TODAY: NORTH WEST ENGLAND A band of light/moderate snowfall will affect southern and eastern parts of the region which may give slight accumulations in places and significantly more on higher ground. This will gradually weaken in intensity during the morning leaving a dry cold day, with temperatures just getting above freezing. This evening and tonight will remain dry and clear, with temperatures belowe freezing leaving most areas with frost and ice. NEXT FEW DAYS: Friday will be mostly dry and cold, again with a hard frost overnight. Into the weekend Saturday could see some wintry flurries fo some, however, these will be light and patchy in nature and should'nt cause too many problems. On Sunday could see a band of rain pass through the region (still uncertain at the moment) which could produce some snow over higher ground with rain and possibly sleet at lower levels. And thats your forecast.
  4. Just outide Bolton, Lancashire. (and not on high ground!) *Note recieving some light snowfall although certainly nothing major and no accumulations.
  5. There is a split in the north west of England to the areas taht have/have'nt seen snowfall. The south and east of the region have faired well - Cheshire, parts of Merseyside, East Lancashire, South Manchester, Higher ground - parts of Cumbria. Whilst - Some parts of Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Western/central/northern Lancashire, parts of Cumbria have seen either nothing or minimal amounts of snowfall that has'nt brought significant accumulations. 6. Such a shame the ppn has died out in intesity, granted favourable spots may see some light/moderate snowfall which will be a suprise to many! By all accounts parts of midland and southern/central England have woken up to several cm's of snow this morning. When will we get our turn?
  7. Its a real shame this band of ppn could'nt have just edged slightly more northwards (a big ask I know.) It would have gven the north west a taste of what everyone else has had this winter. For me, and a lot of people it has been a helluva long time since seen even a few inches, which so many others hae had this week. Prospects don't look great for the majority of us in our region (again) for significant snowfall in our part of the region - including the weekend.
  8. Once again everywhere south and east of us report several cm's while we get the dregs of another band of ppn giving a bit of a dusting. - but can't complain because weve seen some snow.
  9. UPDATE A system of moderate ppn has reached parts of the region wich will rapidly clear away during the morning, however the main intensity of the band will not really affect many places as the system affects the midlands taking a north easterly trak. Some areas may get a dusting, whilst high ground and pennine districts will inevitably get more.
  10. Looks as if this band of ppn is taking a more north-easterly track, with ppn perhaps slightly heavier than expected?
  11. C'mon guys seriously. Tonights event is most probably a write off. The weekends event will probably end up a write off very soon. Any future events will end up a write off. I am sick and tired of anti-climax, followed by anti-climax. False hope, wishful thinking and totally unrealistic optimism. Last weekend we all though wed/thurs would be our time. But once again we are going to miss out. Now we are talking about potential for the weekend. There will be downgrades and we will miss out. Yes we all know that the south of the region and higher ground have had plenty of snow - but the majority of us here in the north-west have missed out again. I am really starting to get sick and tired of the whole game now - it just is'nt fun any more. To be frank it depressing. Another winter passing by without any more than a dusting to write home about is absolutely pathetic.
  12. Could somebody please expand on the snow potential for the north west this weekend/sunday? Cheers.
  13. Pats of south liverpool/south Merseyside may get a dusting.
  14. That is rather interesting - the inconsistency between local and national forecasts has always been particuarly frustrating. If you are wondering what will happen check my earlier post - only some parts of the north-west will see snowfall this evening and tonight. The majority of us will get nothing again. Hot*Snow
  15. Certainly not expecting much for my area. Ground temps are too high - we have'nt even had a frost during this 'cold spell' and the air temps are too high (1.4 deg.C) So even though I'm not expecting any here, any ppn that would fall would oelt on impact with the surface. Tonight the midlands is he place to be.
  16. SNOW THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT A band of heavy/moderate snowfall this evening/overnight potentially giving accumulations of up to 3cm on lower ground, with significantly more over higher ground. AREAS AFECTED Areas to the south and east of the region may be affected. Cheshire, southern parts of Merseyside, south and east Manchester, east Lancashire Higher ground - pennines
  17. As I mentioned earlier there appears to be a trend now that milder air will quite easily win over any cold air so even if we do get ppn it is more likely to fall as sleet or rain than snow.
  18. mmm at a push possibly. Personally I'd expect things to track further south. Certainly no evidence as far as I can see of things really affecting the whole of the region, so again it will be a case of some see it some don't in my view.
  19. Nice chart - but I would be very suprised if that pulled off, especially this far out. I would expect a downgrade.
  20. Hey, what is the 'Sunday event?' Cold you explain further? Cheers.
  21. I must admit after realising the reality that my area was going to fair well early yesterday I went out. By all accounts some areas in the south east and higher ground did recieve constant snowfall for a long time that brought significant accumulations - but it was all over-egged by the media as usual. The Devon snowfall coverage was hilarious - the reporter was walking through a car park taking about how everything had shut due to 'severe weather' etc - the covering was about 1/2cm max. The mis-reported 'tornado' that was actually a waterspout made me laugh personally. Two questions: (1)What do the Canadians, Scandanavians etc think of our inability to cope with a bit of snow? (2) What do people from Oklahoma think of our definition of a tornado?
  22. Excellent point, perfectly illustrated. I am so glad you made that point - I have been thinking it all along but had been slightly afraid to say it myself. I was watching an interview with a woman on bbc news and she said (rather confusingly): "I am from Denmark - this is not snow!"
  23. I was thinking the same. Any chances of significant snowfall for the majority of us in the north-west look pretty slim now imo.
