  1. The north-wst was supposed to fair well out of thurs/fri event - but once again will miss out. Without wanting to swear - this is fishing unbelievable. I can't believe just how much misfortune parts of the north-west are having.
  2. Yeah I saw that chart, unbelievable is'nt it! Well actually it is'nt. I sort of can and can't believe that its happened again here in the north west. I know parts of Cheshire, Merseyside and 'higher ground' have had significant falls but the majority of us ave missed out again. And by all accounts things are not looking promising for the future.
  3. What is your location mate? It would appear to me that the further north and west in the region you go, the less substantial snow there was. Unless anyone in these locations can prove me wrong. i.e: Wigan, parts of Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Blackburn, Preston, Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Lowland Lake District. Whereas the southern, eastern regions and higher ground faired much better. i.e: Cheshire - eg: Macclesfield, Northwich Merseyside - particuarly southern parts East Lancashire - Rochdale, Oldham Higher ground - Pennines, upland Lake District, the dales. It would be a good idea to build up a 'snowmap' of the north-west so we can work out which areas fared better/worse. Hot*Snow
  4. An inch! Higher ground or eastern districts? Also somebody mentioned the March 2006 event - got nothing. As I said last decent snow event would be winter 00/01 (I think) and last proper snow event Feb 96. Over the last few years there has been a few transitional snow events imedietely preceeded by rain, or a bit of snow that has practically melted instantly. The lack of posting on this board just shows how negative things are looking i this region as far as snow prospects are concerned!!
  5. Things always go against us. For me a significant snow event involves continuous heavy snowfall that lasts for a fewhours and gives a covering of at least an inch. Yesterday we got light to moderate snowfall that melted on impact with the surface - giving no/minimul accumulations. And I am not expecting much better for the rest of the week. The last decent snow event in my location was winter 2000/2001. The last proper snow event was Feb 1996. Sad really.
  6. My thoughts all round mate. So as far as England is concerned: The south east, south, south west, wales, east, north east, midlands have all recieved proper snowfalls. Whilst the majority of the north west (with the exception of higher ground) has had pretty much nothing. Can we please stop talking now about potential for significant snowfall in the north west over the next few days. It cant and won't happen. Yes we may get the odd flurry but nothing else. Kayros forecast is spot on. Well there was'nt any heavy snow where I live, i think that was the case for most of Lancashire, Gtr Mancester, Cumbria. Unless I'm wrong. C'mon you must agree in the whole of england this region has faired worse - which I expected anyway!
  7. I am not being argumentative here but I really can't see how the north-west is going to be affected by any substantial snowfall over the next few days. Using words like 'getting a pasting' etc just raises peoples hopes up. Any snow that gets up here will either significantly disband or weaken to light snow. The odd wintry shower/flurry just is'nt that exciting when the rest of the country is covered in inches of the stuff.
  8. Could anybody enlighten me on the snow prospects for north-west England, specifically the Lancashire/Greater Manchester area as its been rather poor for me here? Cheers, Hot*Snow
  9. Prospects not looking good in the majority of the north-west for the rest of the week either, (except high groud and some eastern districts.)
  10. Today - a couple of light snow showers melting instantly. Barely any snow cover left from last nights dusting, except in shaded areas. Not expecting any significant snow here in the north-west this week either, except for the odd flurry here and there.
  11. Unbelievable - they got more snow in the Isles of Scilly than I did!
  12. Well that was pretty rubbish for me. Barely any snow today and that did fall melted instantly the dusting we had last night melted very quickly. Same over the next few days. Anti-climax, followed by anti-climax.
  13. I'm I'm giving up now. Nothing substantial wants to come my way, all this talk of inches and a few cm's - and we get a dusting. Gonna go to pub! Good luck to everyone else.
  14. I would be chuffed if this band hit the north-west, again much earlier tha expected, however, I am remaning cautious. May end up petering out very quickly.
  15. By all account the snowfall that many people said would hit us today and tonight is, accrding to the models, set to take a more easterly track. Ironically the bbc never forecasted it on the maps - I/we thought they were being ignorant lol! As I said tonight will be a repeat performance of last night at best for most. Don't expect much later in the week either (unless your planning on moving down south, or east, or anywhere but the north-west for that matter.)
  16. I'm pretty sure that the majority of the north-west (away from high ground) has recieved a couple of cm's max, a dusting or nothing.
  17. Sorry mate but I don't think it'l get this far and if it does it'l peter out quite substanially. Another southern event.
  18. So then the south estern, southern, central eastern and northern eastern England have all seen hefty snowfalls and are set to recieve more today and tonight with talk of a low giving even the south west snowfall. Once again here in the north-west we get pretty much a minimum effort. Not suprised in the slightest!
  19. Probably a repeat performance of yesterday - a few snow showers giving further coverings of a couple of cm's (max) with the exception of high ground. All this talk of heavy snow affecting the north-west today, tonight and tomorrow is complete and utter nonsense. Hot*Snow
  20. Thats beasue the showers are breaking up as they come over the pennines thus becoming more fragmented. This is the reason why we dont do too well from easterlies and why I think the next few days will be similar to today (Sunday) so expect a build up of a couple of cm's (max) but not much more.
  21. What would you expect the track of the weather system to be - will this be a southern event only or would you expect it to travel further north. Do you think the north-west could be in the firing line. Good spot anyway! Adds another twist to a fascinating tale.
  22. Just seen a bbc weather forecast fortomorrow and wed and again did'nt show much potential for the north-west i'm afraid. In n news interview also Laura Tobin said that the south-east was not used to seeing snow. I can categorically tell you that the south-east has fared much better than the north west for snow over the last decade so where the hell these 'pro' forecasters get their education I don't know.
  23. Yeah mate same here. I think that the interesting thing about today has been the complete shock value considering the fact that north west was'nt supposed to get snow until later on tomorrow.
  24. Can you them two getting this far Kayro??
  25. So whats everyones verdict on tomorrow - I'm thinking a repeat of today so nothing too significant in the north west (except for higher ground) so for the majorty another cm (max).
