Same here. Sun's breaking through; need to shut curtains upstairs again.

Haha I’ve just done the same!

if I’d have fallen asleep for an hour or two I would have thought the sun had been beating down all day on awaking

    sparkling blue skies here

  2. Well after 15 minutes of rain and 2 claps of thunder we have blue skies as far as the eyes can see, no wind and hot sunshine. Certainly not what I was expecting. If anything it’s even more uncomfortable with same temps and higher humidity

  3. Well here in the S Wales valleys nothing out of the very ordinary today

Windy? Yes but nothing notable here

Amazing what difference a few hills and 20 miles makes I guess.

Conversely with snow it can be a foot deep here and green in Cardiff

    Fascinating stuff none the less

Here a yellow warning would have sufficed, certainly not an orange one let alone the red 10 miles down the valley

  4. Well here in S Wales the wind turbines are still turning at 1300’ asl

I would have thought they would be turned away from the wind today

Guessing the strong winds aren't there yet then lol

Nothing of note here nearly an hour into the red warning (we are right on the edge of it here in RCT)

What happens to schools on red warning days? Do councils shut schools or is it carry on regardless ?

All schools in Rhondda Cynon Taf are now closed due to red warning

    Trains also being suspended

and my guess is all public transport will be suspended and Cardiff airport will be closed for a period

My guess is that BOTH Severn crossings will be closed too

Im not sure if the BBC weather uses the ECM data or not? I dont think they use the Met Office model (UKV) on tv anymore?

On 6 February 2018, the BBC began using the MeteoGroup graphics, which include: a seasonal "window on the weather" at the start of each bulletin. green land. high quality moving graphics reproduce detailed weather conditions represented by high-resolution data.

Not sure on the data they use tho

Id always go through the UKMet

BBC are not my go to

  7. As I mentioned yesterday evening, don’t be surprised if you see an Amber warning for those in Kent and E Sussex this afternoon and this evening

As expected deep convection now beginning to fire up in a distinct streamer

Those in the firing line could add another 10-15cms before the end of the night.

Expect the streamer to migrate eastwards over the next 6-12 hours before finally leaving the Kent coast by tomorrow midday
