  1. It's open because its every bit as warm here as its been over the last few weeks. Lets look at my temps this month with graph: (todays max is so far and is likely to rise). The warm spell began around the 4th but if you see my graph the maxes & mins this week exceed most days until we hit the 12th. And the average rises with night minima especially have kept rising. Bar last weekends dirge fest this warm spell (yes not 'hot') is still very much underway!
  2. After a lovely warm evening and a low of 16.8c its now a clear sunny day - perfection for a Friday and a bbq this evening. 21c so far.
  3. Yes it really is lovely this week with temperatures holding up nicely and none of that nippy breeze lark we've had before. Although more changeable this week is far better than last weekend (for sure!) and a real improvement on the week before last. 23c still and a lovely warm, humid breeze coming in. Perfect!
  4. Always the main thing for me is it must must must be warmth to enjoy in the evenings. As in comfortable at, say 8pm and also sufficiently warm I can open my downstairs windows at least till 9pm. This means it must be >21c until at least 9pm. It's no use being a comfortable 23c when I'm at work only to be 16c when I finally get chance to enjoy it!
  5. Ideally I want somewhere with average maxes of around 25c in summer and just above freezing in winter. I'd like most rainfall to concentrate into the winter months with summer being generally drier. I'm happy with a cold winter season so long as it wasn't too long (couple of months will do then quick recovery to 10-15c). Daylight hours - as long as possible in summer (Iceland style!) but not dropping below 10 hours in winter. Now that's impossible of course...
  6. And we're back with nice warm sunshine - and plenty of it! 25.2c max so far with light winds. Why has this thread gone so quiet - its every bit as warm as it was the past few weeks... OK the 27c+ has gone but we often failed to get much above 25c anyway especially during earlier in the month. If anything its more reliable now!
  7. Clear blue skies all day with maxes around 25c-27c. Temps then don't fall too much in the evening just gentle fall to a 18c min. Limited wind - just a light breeze. Today is almost like that bar the morning cloud!
  8. 17.8c min and still humid today but sunless unfortunately. Made it to 22.6c but feels less warm without sun and it being so damp all around. Looks like tomorrow will be a better day - good as I'm being brave and going to have a bbq at my place. Normally doing so invites a chilly evening or some rogue shower.. fingers cross...
  9. I (of course) went for warm nights - warmer the better! But my opinion might change when I move house later this year but for now I literally cannot remember the last time I tried to sleep and was too hot. Actually yes - Barbados it happened. Then on came the air con. But then mins there were 25c so you needed it.
  10. It's interesting that even with a fair bit of cloud around inc some short overcast periods that we've got a max beating a number of the clear sky days. All down to increased westerly influence keeping the North Sea chill away.
  11. Well today is every bit as warm as many days in this warm spell that has now errm 'broken' down... Currently 25.7c so can see a 26c today. Not bad when we were predicted to reach 24c today. Makes a real change for us to exceed predications instead of fall short of them! Today has beaten all of last weekend, and numerous days in the week of the 8th. edit- 26.1c...
  12. September is definitely a boundary month and I agree the first week or so can seem very much like summer. But I'd still call it autumn in the same way this March was still spring for me. No matter how cold March got, I was finally coming home from work in daylight for the first time in 4 months so that signals spring to me. June is definitely summer due to the long days. The most ambiguous one to most people is November. Its cold, dark & the trees are or are almost bare. Xmas is being talked about everywhere and snow can fall. For most people it really feels like the fourth winter month.
  13. Hotter the better to enjoy the extremes but admittedly I'd like some days that fall into normal 'warm' category (22-25c) rather than 30c+ for 3 months. So how 'bout this for a split with daytime maxes: 0% < 20c (cool) 20% 20c-22c (average) 40% 22c-25c (warm) 20% 25c-28c (very warm) 20% 28c-35c (hot to very hot) Generally dry with ample sunshine everyday but with occasional t-storms in evenings (perhaps every 10 days but not Friday or Saturday nights!). I'm fine with some humidity. At lower temps humidity needs to be higher to compensate. Nights: 0% < 13c (cool) 20% 13c-15c (average) 50% 15c-17c (warm) 30% 17c+ (very warm) Absolutely *none* of this: - Low cloud - Drizzle - Cold NEly winds - Atlantic fronts - Gales - Unseasonably chilly nights that damage plants.
  14. A lot of mess around this morning after last nights flooding - debris all over and can see where the river went over its banks too. Someone I know got their entire downstairs of their house flooded out wrecking everything - a bad day for them indeed. Exciting as these storms can be they can be very destructive. Today is fine & pleasantly warm with sunshine. 17.7c low now 20.1c and quite humid. A day like today looks pretty good for most I'd say - certainly not too hot nor too cold with evenings remaining pleasant enough to enjoy outside (assuming it doesn't rain of course!).
  15. Storms all gone - now clear & sunny. Feeling lovely too in that sun. 22.2c so far.
  16. Well that was certainly a wild night of storms! Got no sleep between 0430-0600 (which doesn't leave long till the ruddy alarm!) with it hammering it down and frequent flashes & loud thunder. Despite all the rain temps never dropped below 19c - a real steamy tropical feeling night - really enjoyed it! A lot of standing water around this morning and the river well up. Now I remember why I wear black trousers most of the year - my light coloured shorts are covered in road muck - can't say I've missed that in the dry period. It's now very dull & grey temp 19.2c and about to rain... again. Glad I got to work in the 30 min rain gap!
  17. The thunderstorm we had pulled temps down sharp to a fresher 20.6c where they've levelled off. Cool storm and some lovely evening temperatures!
  18. Wow that was quite some storm... extreme heavy rain & almost constant strikes. Best one I've seen in a long time!
  19. A very pleasant 24.8c here at the moment - wonderful wandering in & out the house wearing not a lot... Sure did miss that during the chilly weekend, especially Sunday!
  20. Well if it was the hottest day of the year it certainly didn't reach my courtyard! Max of 27.5c and now dropping fast - but that is because I've just opened the window and the cold air (22c) in the house is now flying out the window. Can tell its that as house temp rising at same rate as outside is falling. Def getting feeling my sensor is located in a cold spot but then so often it matches official readings so not sure. Well it does feel more humid than other days of this spell granted. But it isn't that hot temperature wise. edit- wow even upstairs isn't warm like it usually is after warm/hot days purely down to the grey morning. It's like the cold Sunday weather got locked in...
  21. Although official readings showing East Midlands at 30c... Not quite sure why my readings are so much lower - perhaps the much cooler house it's next to is doing it... dunno..
  22. 'Hot' it is not. Pretty humid but only maxed at 27.5c and now leveling out - >28c is 'hot' so today doesn't (yet) count... Dew point only 14c too so really just a pleasantly warm day...
  23. Think we're destined to never get above 28c- temps held at 27c for half hour now just creeping up again currently 27.2c. What set up do we need to catch 30c?! Guess there's still time yet with BBC going for 29c peaking 6-7pm. High level cloud appearing now too...
