18c min and clear skies once more today. 22.7c so far and on our way to 28c today. The office has started the day 2c higher each morning so we're kicking off with 26c today. Gonna be hot come 4pm... This week really has felt like the proper warm spell as its been uninterrupted since Sunday mornings cloud and consistently warm. Just hope the weekend low cloud potential doesn't spoil that!

Model Output Discussion 12z 08/07/13

So back to the more reliable time frame - what's the thinking on the low cloud potential for the weekend? The Beeb has temps a lot lower than during this week with cloud forecasts for the mornings. Being a weekend I'd certainly be keen for that to be wrong! -
Just found the first drawback of this weather... no not the 30.5c heat in the office today (don't mind it with windows open) nor the 27c current bedroom temperature (skylight breeze will negate it) but actually our shower... Because the ground water temperature is up and you don't want as warmer shower you turn it down - but this power shower works by adjusting pressure over a constant heating element, so lower temps means needing higher flow. So now the pressure is enormous and it whistles and groans under the pressure... Quite some noise its making! Still totally beats when its really cold - in Dec 2010 we were almost showering under what felt like a leaky tap! Just when you want a strong, hot shower to cope in the freezing cold house. Anyway hoping ECM is right and we pull in the *real* heat next week!

Ah well if I'd had 6 days above 28c then maybe I'd be calling it heatwave - but not been that hot due to that frequent Ely drift knocking temps down. Today is hottest day in the office of this entire spell - now hit 30.2c on my desk thermometer. 27c outside so tiny bit down on yesterdays 27.6c and somewhat shy of the 'hot' 28c... But def warmer than most days last week.
-
Yes I'd not call it 'heatwave' territory. Personally 28c feels like the boundary from 'very warm' to 'hot' a-la 'heatwave'. By that definition we've had 2 days of heatwave here (Sun 7th + last Sat) with yesterday and today following close behind - but not quite... Last week on the other hand was mostly average (in fact Wednesday was below average) with any warm days topping around 25c. Still no 30c nor even 29c yet so I'm not calling it a 'heatwave' just yet...

It really is a party pooper low cloud eh... Sadly (for us) and gladly (for you westerners) it looks like the dread NElys will return later in the week. So time for us to make the most of these proper hot feeling days. 27.1c max now and really feeling like proper heat especially in this hot office (28.6c in here).

33% here (temp 24.7c d.p. 7.2c). Quite dry yes.

Our bedroom will go up to 28c or so when the sun is out but soon cools off in the evening due to the skylight being right above the bed. The super way this place keeps its cool almost makes it worth the other 10 months of it being 'that bit too chilly' or, as she puts it 'ruddy freezing all the time'. edit - Today is clear & sunny - deep blue skies and warm at 21.3c at 0900 after 14.7c low. No low cloud anywhere to be seen - much better feel to things without an easterly present!

It has been lovely to be able to spend so much time outdoors this month - a real rare treat in this country so definitely one to relish indeed! I get some of you can't cope with warmth but just remember how many months the cold of winter has dragged on & on especially this year - you've had a pretty good ru. Stop trying to wrap yourselves up in your house - go outside and enjoy it - perhaps speak to those neighbours instead- beats hiding in your insulated box, curtains shut all the time! Summer is a sociable time and yes you will hear other people a lot more than in winter - I guess we're not used to it in this country anymore.... Little cooler tonight as we're below 20c before 11pm. Another week of good weather on the way - and hopefully less dreaded low cloud.

25.1c here so reached todays predicted value - perhaps squeeze a 26c out of it. One big looser in our house is out budgies - normally I leave their cage open all the time we're in. But since we've got the downstairs windows & door open they have to stay locked up. They're enjoying the brightness on the sunny mornings though!
-
No it doesn't set but after 2 there is very little sunlight into the house except through the one small skylight that faces west. In fact its 1245 and the sun is just moving off our one window in the living room. The garden gets sun till about 4:30-5 at the moment - and if you climb the fence you might squeeze 5:30... After that I can only receive reflected sunlight from other houses windows. 22.2c now and now proper blue skies. Some 6c down on yesterday but still pleasant.

Loved today - lovely & sunny throughout with max 28.5c and the first day this year I'd call 'hot' (I think 28c is the boundary line from warm to hot). Cloud did bubble up during the afternoon but gladly the t-storm passed 15 miles to my south (didn't want it today!). Spent late afternoon out in a field chilling & chatting to friends then on to the pub for a couple. Boiling inside the pub - had to be outside! Then a lovely cycle home and still 22c when I get home. And even better- no sign of any change to normal boring cool weather - woo!
