  1. Lets keep this eruption talk to the science forum and this thread the preserve of the weather models. Thanks!
  2. Dreadful nights sleep with rain & wind hammering on the skylight all night long. Started at midnight and is still going strong now. 11mm fallen so far. Currently sleety rain 2.3c. Called off camping trip to Wales - just not practical in these conditions.
  3. High pressure yes but with a NWly flow like that you can expect a fair bit of cloud around. Away from the north west there should be some breaks giving some pleasant sunshine at times. Certainly no rain though of course so all is normal!
  4. Very dull and cloudy. 6.3c min now 8.4c. A 'fine' way to start a week off work! Not...
  5. Of course no one knows just yet... We haven't had a good August in many years now so perhaps we'll see a decent one this year. Personally I like my prime good weather around the solstice (May to July) and by good I mean ample sunshine and at least feeling warm most of the time. Doesn't need to be 30c+ (although I do like that) but does need to be sunny with maxes above 20c on most days. A complete lack of cool, cloudy days and Atlantic fronts would be an absolute requirement. I like storms too but they need to be timed well so I can enjoy them from indoors and not when I've planned a bbq, are trudging around town shopping or cycling home from work!
  6. Lovely clear and sunny start here after a chilly night down to 2.3c. Now 8.3c.
  7. Welcome to the weekend - it's dull and cloudy. 10.1c after 7.7c low so certainly a milder night but no doubt a cooler day than recently.
  8. 8th day? 6th round here! Lovely spell of weather - just hope we see more of that in summer proper and preferably not always in the working week (unless I'm off work of course!).
  9. Yep that about wraps up our sunny/warm spell which here has lasted from Sunday to Thursday (primarily Tuesday-Thurs warmth wise). It's now clouded up and there's a chilly breeze on - welcome to the weekend!
  10. Started clear and sunny as other days this week but cloud has rolled in and it feels cooler. Missing the good weather already!! 13.2c so far.
  11. Keeping a close eye on that as meant to be camping plus all new new tender plants have come up this week - don't want to loose them all before I start! Still, I'm all for spring switcharounds just wish this week had been the cold and we now were switching into warm! Not exactly the camping weather I was looking for:
  12. Yes I've still had the heating on as my house is a git for taking ages to warm up. Now I'm coming home and its around 19c whereas earlier in the week it was more like 16c. It may not be 'exciting' weather but its perfect for enjoying being stuck in the office being outdoors and I for one will definitely miss it as I take my week off work and go camping next week. We will no doubt be cursing the cloud & cold as we trek round Wales!
  13. At the moment it looks like an area of cold high pressure will be in charge the middle of next week. Not the worst outlook for those of us taking some holiday next week although nothing like as great as its been this week (how nice it looks from the office window...). So some sharp overnight frosts but generally looking dry.
  14. A true summer feeling day today with it feeling hot in our office. Sitting out into the evening it has stayed warm and even now at almost 10pm its just shy of 15c. Thoroughly enjoyed this spell of weather although sadly the forecast is for it to continue lovely until we hit the time of the week many of us can finally enjoy it properly - the weekend! Today- 20c, sunny; Tomorrow 19c, sunny; Friday 17c, sunny; Saturday cloudy 10c We are indeed due a change to more seasonal conditions - I just wish I could have at least have had one day of it where I didn't spend most of it cooped up in an office.
  15. This is very true with a lot of people. The common phrase of "why can't it just make its mind up" referring to showery type days especially. Large swings in conditions are indeed harder to plan for. Even this week will have caught many out- those taking a big coat because its cold in the morning will then be carting it all around in the afternoon. Then there are those who head out in shorts/t-shirt but don't get home till midnight who end up very cold!
  16. 18.1c max here. Just loving this weather - I'd keep this May to August! Well ok maybe some overnight storms to give us that rain we need. Shame the weekend is looking so average - it seems the best part of this spell has concentrated itself into the working week!

  21. A cool night but not as cool as yesterday. Down to 5c. Completely blue skies again and up to 11.5c so far. Really enjoying seeing so much sky - last night was great for sky watching!
  22. Fantastic day - a real summer feel to things. The sun was much stronger feleing than yesterday because of the clearer skies - no even a whisp of anything cloud like. Well if you ignore the pollution cloud of course. There's a lot of happy people around this evening. The clock move feels even more pronounced once you reach the working week with it being some hours after 5pm that it gets properly dark. The clear skies extends that light even more. Seems everyone is buzzing on sunshine & daylight today and makes me wonder why we wait so long to move the clocks. The lighter evenings are so so much more valuable than sunrise at 6am (and yes I do get up for work every weekday!). The better half of the year is here again!
  23. Would happily see some snow in April. A nice good warm spell like we're having followed by a stiff northerly laden with snow showers would be great (although please northerly wait until after my camping adventure next week!). After early May then no cold weather can stay away till October.
  24. 16.9c here and we're about at the max now. So still not the warmest of the year yet (we had 17c the other week) but still good. Sky is so crystal clear unlike recent days. My office faces south west (me looking directly south) and the intensity of sunlight falling of me is quite a feeling after the long (admittedly sunny) winter!
  25. Warmer than yesterday - so far 16.3c under fabulous clear sunny skies. The sky is so completely clear & blue - such a rare thing!
