Tbh I don't get all this excitement from models that keep getting pushed back further and further, the 20 previous pages people were getting excited about the outputs from 4-5th december and now after page 20 they're now talking about the 8th and 11th december like it is every year with snow and keeps getting pushed back. I would only get excited if its within the 5 day range and i'm not even a cold lover but snow is something that makes winter bearable and interesting. Now people are talking about interest on the 4-5th again but only on the hill tops and how many members here live on the hills i bet very few and not only that but its mainly confined in the North, it's another North/south split again like you get in the Summer with heat. Until a confident percentage of the outputs are shown giving a more widespread chance of snow, I wouldn't really be that excited.
I know this is a moan but i'm not seeing a moan thread or i'm just blind.

Nick F, your graphics on the two GFS charts in your last post are much appreciated, makes it a lot easier for amateur to understand.

As usual there are a lot of “killjoys” on the main thread with respect to Thursday onwards.
I am just going to wait for Steve Murr to put in his input, don’t really trust anyone else. One thing I’ve learnt is if he stops posting then the potential event is a no-hoper.
hope I’m not offending anyone with good intentions, but I think there are too many trolls in this forum and too many people who haven’t a clue what they are talking about. Takes the enjoyment out of it.

Quite a few clever forecasters on the Models thread claiming they forecast a dodgy winter ages ago.

Yes it’s moderately exhausting reading the mod thread already this year all the highs and lows , people alluding to them knowing something no one else does , the ubiquitous nae bad phrase , the 3 amigos all likening each other’s posts !! Yes it’s going to be a long winter one way or another ...
Interesting comment Badgers01, in your opinion who do you consider as giving out fairly reliable information? I have always gone for Steve Murr and Carinthian, they can’t always be right but their take is entertaining even if I don’t understand all the technicalities.

Hi Badgers01
Nice pix of Wisley, I want to go to Kew Gardens to see the autumn colours, when do you think is the best time?

Northern band is decaying, next band is taking over which arched from Winchester to Basingstoke and up through Wokingham. That should decay in 30-45 minutes and the band currently and Guildford will take over, then a new band should crop up, and the process repeats broadly for the next 3-5hrs until it starts to wind down as it ejects to the SE/SSE.
What about the band over Kent that Nick Sussex has just referred to?

I think it’s snowing in Raynes Park, might be heavy sleet but my eyesight isn’t good enough to differentiate. Been great tracking everything on this forum today.

Forgive the terrible map, it's surprisingly hard to find a map that shows the SE and East Anglia
Red zone has highest potential for seeing an all snow event - Elsewhere likely to see rain > snow.
South coast likely to see falling snow with intensity/any altitude but rain/sleety/snow mix more likely so lowered accumulating snowfall here. Red zone 3-4cm widely, 6-10cm with any higher ground/heavier bursts.
Brilliant Daniel, I know it’s imby, but for the layman that is nice and clear. Thanks for taking the trouble to produce that.
