Well I'm near Winter hill in Bolton and it was sleet. Lmao

I'm 47. I've seen some epic snowfalls in bolton, but the best ever for me was February 09 in Northampton 7 days of very heavy snow. At one stage ( where the snow did not thaw ) must have been 2 foot of level snow. Unbelievable!!

Don't know how old hotcuppa is but we (Bolton) played Everton 1st of January 1979Game was called off at half time due to heavy snow.

I remember a North Easterly in the late 80's battering the East of the Pennines, it was one of those frustrating episodes. if I remember correct it was a Sunday and some beefy clouds came drifting over, 3 hours later we had about 4 inches of snow.No radar then to take a look at, but it must have been some sort of streamer coming over the Pennines.

What part of town are you? You do realise some parts of Bolton are higher than other parts of the town. I'm up Chorley old road area of town and on a clear day I have a fantastic views of Manchester, Oldham and the Cheshire plains. Now drop down several hundred feet and head into the town itself and you are quite low. Same for farnworth , kearsley and other parts of South Bolton.
