  1. Snowing now winter is back on. Streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemerrrrrrrr
  2. Am trying not to say anything but there is something out there heading this way, ahhh it will only be rain for sure . shhhhhhh
  3. Its always better to fear the worst ,as it makes it so much better when you awake to a thick blanket of snow. When i said winter was over in a earlier post , i really didnt mean it ok lol. Anyway, i think winter is over now. Coat .... blah blah
  4. Not really that much of a event as forecast, sunday looks to be the main day going off the skys francis forecast i have just seen. Looks like there will be a few batches whistling through here soon but possibly too fast, not amounting to much at all. This easterly aslo appears to be some way off,and im having none of it until it comes within the 5 day forecast. I think i will awake to a very light melting smattering if lucky.
  5. Wind turning more westerly later, too far infact and as Rob McElwee says , Ireland blocks wales. Ah well, we just had a pasting for hundreds of seconds. All gone. End of winter. Coat on,door shut. (but not locked)
  6. Ah well, that lasted a few mins. All gone now. Winter over.
  7. Heavy snow up here on Mount Tycoch(above 15000cMETRES here dont you know). Stopped ..... started again.... interesting ,i need to upgrade my subscription i thinks.
  8. I would say in general, the east of wales has faired better in terms of overall depth of snow so far this winter, this forthcoming event should even things up a little. Its only fair really. Even things up before, hopefully, a mega cold blast which will leave the east overall winners once again. But, for now ,this is mainly a west wales event. Everywhere it would seem has had a good pasting at some point. Is there anywhere in Wales that has missed out? Aberaeron was mentioned a while ago??
  9. I wonder where he is getting his information from? Not , meto , sky , bbc ,etc and this site for sure. Perhaps he uses a formulae that involves rolling a dice 5 times , totalling it up, then if its winter divide by 2, then spinning a giant wheel of fortune style wheel with each segment + then - then + then - etc. Could get -15 though , and that would suit Andy , as he would achieve his magic -12. You just need a roll of 24 or above Andy, then the magic minus sign on the wheel of fortune. Sack him now.
  10. I wonder how many people actually read his report and take it seriously? 14 degrees lol , get the barby out.
  11. Suppose i will have to renew my radar subscription. What i want to know is will Andy get his -12 degrees celsius?? Soooooooooo, it erm was a bit cold this morning then it was a bit mild and it didnt snow but hey.
  12. Things i think are maybe not looking as good now, that -12 is a long way off Andy , and i think you will have to wait until next winter at least to see it. I think a call to Matt Groening is needed, as we need to hire Mr Burns and his sun blocking machine. Soooooooooooooooooooooooo, its erm not snowing yet , ok , yes , hmm , i think i shall get my coat once more. Coat got. Door closed.
  13. (normal) The murmurings for this forthcoming cold snap turning into a northerly later on seem to be getting louder. A northerly/north westerly is the magic scenario for west wales is it not,and at the end of January start of February also?? I have not spent enough time in the area to know but i would say so?? Come on one more snow day please.
  14. Oh dear no messages all day, this thread will surely die. Hello? Even Andymusic has gone?? Have we given up?
  15. Good old Andy still here and has yet to wilt like most others. At the moment there is a clash of the titans going on with the GFS and ECM fully locked horns. GFS is in the cold blue corner , whilst ECM is in the mild red corner. Time is running out and surely it must be tomorrow when we should know which one will be the victor. I would say its 50/50 in favour of either, however there seems to be growing thinking towards northerly/north westerly flows later on after a breakdown. I base this knowledge/guess work on a mixture of thinking from the model output thread. And yes Gavin from autoglass does look a bit smug , and too cheesy if you ask me, bet hes never done a hard days graft in his life. Back onto the wintry theme, whilst driving around and doing a job in Monmouthsire , i witnessed picture postcard scenery, with about a inch of lying snow and still falling at about 11am when i departed. Nothing on the M4 until the Chepstow area then , a bit of elevation and hey presto , wonderland. A brief flash of winter, however, will that be a warning for whats to come ? or is it to be hello atlantico until we have our now early summer in April / May. Just here to keep things ticking over , and add another post just for the sake of adding a post, so it looks like the Wales thread is the place to be. Keep it going folks or we get closed down.
  16. I hope your right, and although it may get a bit colder from sunday, i am deliberatly down playing my own expectation, as there is nothing worse than that snow frustration when it dont happen. As most on net weather are coldies, then it follows that every little sign / prediction / this top forecaster said this / etc etc is pounced upon , disected debated ,with the outcome getting everyones hopes up. It would be interesting for the debate if we had an equal amount of mild seekers, just to balance things up. However , there are tentative signs ....... My random thought for this evening is :- Gavin from autoglass will be busy next week.CRACK.
  17. Hi Andy, im trying not to get excited by the prospect of a prolonged cold spell starting this Sunday, but it would appear that this prospect is increasing by the day. Its this that is keeping me on here, checking the latest model runs , reading the various discussions and trying to build some sort of picture of future events. I have enjoyed this winter so much , been sledging on about 7 different days at least with the boy, (this is usually a maximum of 1 or even 0) , so i am happy with what we have had......BUT I WANT MORE NOW!! Just one more night like last Tuesday, where i managed to get my hopes really low before what turned out to be a magical event. Its always so much better when you expect the least, even when its odds on. I think we all on here secretly hope you get trapped again Andy,as that means its a snow fest for everyone (apart from Aberaeron).
  18. I suppose i am a tad mad mind,i realised this the other day when i found myself trying to throttle one of my three lamposts, this was followed up with me feeding the lamposts hob nobs and tea for producing a snow fest. I mean really Pascal....WHAT THE FXXK are you on about? ...who ? me?? Im just here to keep this forum ticking over before the mods close it down. Crazy pyschotic winds ,what ever next? Paranoid snow? evil rain? Sooooooooo, erm , didnt snow here today but im sure it did..... erm somewhere else.
  19. It would seem that the chances of a renewed cold spell are increasing by the day. Good good, lets hope that the news just gets better and better. I want to see -12 in Swansea before this winter is out!!! I shall be travelling around the east wales areas and higher grounds tomorrow with work, and hopefully i shall see what may be a practice for the main event starting sunday/monday. A winter warning tomorrow to say " You have had cold, then i dis appeared for a while, tomorrow i shall give you one last practice run , before you have cold like you never seen before!". Jan25th - March 10th 2010----- Coldest spell since records began in Wales. Swansea Bay frozen solid, average daytime temperatures of -8 on the coasts / - 12 inland, persistant snowfall for weeks on end , sky news reporters trapped up in the valleys for 5 weeks. Come on !
  20. I see this once great and thriving thread is dying now. I shall pop in from time to time just to keep it ticking over. Sooooooooooo?? Errm ,..... see they got snow....somewhere in europe... yes, hmm ok. Ill get my coat.
  21. Drove down from Abergavenny to Swansea via A465, and there is still a good covering anywhere above 300metres id guess, patchy and on the whole maybe less than 50%. The gradual decline down into Swansea ,obviously the snow dis appears , and even the skeletons of the toughest snow men have gone. Near my work in Porthcawl there is a disgusting looking dark grey, gritty mound that is rotting badly,it was piled quite high so has taken some time to decay. It really does look awful, but i think i could still make a trampy dirty smelly snowman out of it. As i posted in the wales forum last week, i did see 3 council folk hacking at the carcass of a dead snow man, and after it was fully dis membered , they threw the remains into a nearby tree. It was in nobodys way and was not a health and safety risk, it was at the end of a pavement and within a metre of the road, and it would appear they had been told to do this by their superiors.
  22. Things do look interesting for the coming weeks having read the model output discussions, but , we 99% on this site are cold rampers ,and will look for any small sign of a return , and cling to it. Not saying any of it is wrong, but im not going to get carried away until i start seeing things within the 5 day time frame. Burger van at the ready for the slopes of south wales.....
  23. Who do i give my cv too???????? Coming down the hill from the top of Tycoch area earlier , i did see a swansea council flat back vehicle, and 3 council folk breaking up a rotting snowman which was near the bus shelter just above Sketty primary school, it was not in the way as the pavement ends where it was, they were hacking at its carcass like crazed vultures ,and then just shovelling it into a nearby tree. WHAT POSSESSED THEM TO DO THAT???? Did someone tell them to do that?? Exterminate all snow men near roads. Pathetic, so pathetic i almost crashed as i stared in dis belief.
  24. Lol, Wheelie bins i really dont know, as dependant on what was in the wheelie bin?? eg :-rotting food would raise the temperature on the wheelie bin lid , so you would be shooting yourself in the foot if you measured from said bin. Im sure some take it very seriously, i generally find that when someone says 6 inches it is usually 3, and that the ratio of accuracy is usually 2-1 , with 2 being the estimate and 1 being the actual. A full topographical survey i think is required of your garden before and after the snow event.
