That’s is the biggest and best upgrade I’ve seen this week - all in very unstable conditions. I expect a METO upgrade today
Wasn’t there an upgrade yesterday maybe that covers them until next week ?
-
Surely the Met office will likely issue yellow warnings of snow and ice from Monday morning, upgrading to amber and possibly red if reading from the present charts.
-
What an amazing chart, I think the UKMO has this in the bag, hope every 1 is happy uk wide

Incredible charts, looking very much like the 1978/9 January winter, it will bring the uk into emergency measures for sure.

More towards 5"
Kasim during my 50 years interested in weather from the age of 8 yrs old and unlike some people that don’t have a weather station and put a tape measure in the snow and say it’s what ever depth as you know that isn’t the correct method to get an accurate measure.
I will be out early tomorrow morning at 1st light I’ll update it and see if your correct.
thanks for your knowledgeable posts

You’ll need to show something to back that up otherwise it’s a load of waffle!
Search back into the forum threads from 26 th December 2010, it was 1 of the more experienced members that also said this, proof will be in 48 hours then come back and tell me I’m just talking a load of waffle

Got to laugh at the ridiculous comments again here this morning. Absolutely nothings changed. The charts that were showing had no likelihood of being correct just as much as the less amplified ones are! Think people seem to be forgetting there is an SSW on the cards which will completly change the pattern anyway. The favourable outcome is for the warm to be pushed back with cold conditions with snow chances possible all inline with the Met Office update.
Anyone saying it's going to be Antlantic dominated weather seriously need to chill out and look at the bigger picture. There is more likelyhood of that not happening, let alone the fact this is the 0z run on the back of Xmas day where I wouldn't be surprised of less manual data being added into the models for the last 2 days.
I'm very confident were in for a significant cold spell just beginning.
The lack of manual data input into the models due to the holidays is correct, this also happened in 2010, those of us that have been on this forum may remember the same debate back then.
Another 48 hours and I’m confident we will see a different output.- 1

Heavy rain just cleared here with largely clear skies following on behind, some PWS to my west (namely Watford area) show temperatures now plummeting under this so I will hopefully be recording similar in the not too distant future. I will cautiously add that I think the radar picture looks decent, obviously no model has got it right but the trajectory looks...decent.
Hi, I’m in Hertford where a-bouts in Hertfordshire are you?
Looks as if we are in for a chance early hours of the morning but I doubt any settling snow.
I have been a member on this forum for many years but only here when it’s winter, I read the model threads intensely and especially Steve Murr he’s extremely knowledgeable about the weather.
Good to be back let’s hope this winter is a memorable 1 last year was a mega disappointment after the models were showing easterlies then just vanishing from the model runs it was so frustrating, however my hunch this year it will be different.
