  1. just got back after a drive out........ nothing on the roads and you know when you are back in the Dudley Borough as the roads are terrible! Wolverhampton borough, the roads are better! There is more snow on the paths than I expected - some of the deepest snow in recent years. There is going to be some fun tomorrow morning.
  2. must have had 6 or cms today, a level 15cms or so altogether. personally I think today has been more satisfying as Fridays event was overhyped and delivered a moderate snowfall, today was lower key but still delivered for most areas. Still falling too.
  3. next weekend potentially looks interesting with some VERY high ppn rates. That would be the icing on the cake before the milder air wins - big feasty atlantic breakdown Does look like the snow already on the ground will stay for most of next week, no thaw at all here since Friday.
  4. Looking decent now for today, glad as Tuesdays event looks non eventful!
  5. Interesting radar watching ahead............. North of Wolverhampton seems to be the sweet spot at the moment for some decent snowfall. Current snow flurries in Sedgley........slight coverings on cars etc. Forecast is suggesting the main snow arriving from lunchtime...... Met has a heavy snow symbol for 3pm this afternoon in DY3, but this changes like the wind!
  6. I was thinking this earlier, on many occasions its been forecast but never delivered. I think the early 80s delivered repeat events and snow on the ground for weeks on end in the West Mids. (very deep snow - my neighbour said yesterdays snow was a flurry in comparison). Perhaps this is the year lol!
  7. "http://www.youtube.com/embed/pMc3TLMYuLM" maybe worth a nose from Simon Keeling regarding Sunday/Monday snow events based on GFS models.
  8. -1c here and no thaw.......... around city centres it was forecasting 1c max.
  9. Need another fairly large snowfall here for it to be anything out of the ordinary (based on the last 3-4 years)...... Its been a long time since temps are due to be freezing or below for the coming week, and fronts from different directions so sounds interesting and I hope my comments change over the next few days. You cannot get enough snowfall I cleaned the car at 8.30pm last night and now there is a decent covering on the windows again, so we must have had a genuine 10-11cms of snow around this neck of the woods by this morning.
  10. midlands today had snow moving in sunday, then monday and heavy on tuesday, and saying cold could stay until week after next. I think alot of the professional forecasters are having problems with predictions at the moment. Even Sundays event has very loose information surrounding it.
  11. decent 8-10cms over the day, although expected more initially, after last night, was dreading that we may only get 5cms maximum. Not sure quite as much as 2010 but not far off. Tuesday could be interesting, heavy snow spreading from the southwest during the day to the West Midlands according to UKMO. Roads are pretty good for the depth of snowfall due to the steady fall. Can imagine tomorrow morning could be abit dicey though! There seems to be plenty of potential in the next few days as the cold stays with us!
  12. snow is coming down better now - prob 8cms or so.........hoping for the magic 15 by the end of the day. Looking at the radar there is plenty morew to come.
  13. Im expecting alot more than this! Dudley area usually has some good snowfalls in the past due to being high ground......snow seems to be gradually picking up, moderate snow at present. 3-4cms at present.
  14. come on heavy snow - around now it should be picking up fingers crossed.............flurries at the moment. I want to be able to go home from work and was hoping to go home at lunch lol!
  15. hardly any snow in Dudley....hopefully its on its way. My friend who is driving to south wales said its really snowing down there!
  16. if the predictions of snow depths are correct - ie around 4 inches, the trains will be fine. Its been a long time since the trains have been stopped due to snow in this area, thinking back to the early 90s. Also it will take a while to accumulate so all of the main roads will be clear. Again the predictions of snow depth could be wrong, therefore you need to stay glued to the window through the day. Due to modern H&S, the media overhypes everything, went to sainsburies earlier and alot of the shelves were empty and no bread, potatoes and most of the fruit gone. Can imagine traffic being a mare though as everything slows down on already congested roads!
  17. 4-6mm per hour ppn between 9-1 tomorrow in the DY3 postcode..... So much differing information at the moment depending on what model or data you look at. Some are still suggested 20cms snowfall, others saying virtually none lol. Going to be interesting 24 hours.
  18. If some of the latest data is to be believed, then it looks good for the west mids come the weekend but early doors yet. The best snowfalls in our area always happen like this......rather have 20cms of snow and then it get milder after a couple of days than have 2 weeks of 2-3 cms of snow showers and sub zero temps.
  19. very light snow in Upper Gornal Sedgley/Dudley, dusting on all surfaces.
  20. Anywhere west of Coventry it could be a non event tonight/tomorrow, looks like any lying snow will be gone by mid morning tomorrow. Intensity of snowfall looks pretty low too. Friday looks very interesting and is the favoured situation for the West Midlands area, and it may not warm up until Sunday afterwards when more Atlantic fronts push in.
  21. Mark that looks ace!!! Slight covering of Snow in Sedgley, however I have now drove to Walsall and no accumulations, just wet.
  22. Will keep watching with caution..........
