Looks like a non event now north west of brum... Forecast had all the ppn going south and west... Oh dear grrr forecast changed

i think it may get interesting towards 9-10pm :o). Car says -1 driving home in Dudley.....no rain though, spots in the air earlier.

Good snowfall saturday afternoon and evening.................shame about it being short lived............ Looks as though there could be some more opportunities for some decent snowfalls in the next couple of weeks though with the low temps and the east/west split.

first mention of snow in the Midlands for Winter 2011-2012, first post on here!!!! Interested to see what will happen over the next 24 hours or so :smilz38:

can see it being a cold slushy and blustery friday tbh................... where are all the big snowfall likes of the 80s and early 90s....................................OK the snow didnt hang around for too long after but the intensity and the depths were great. This is what im waiting for.

thats probably just down to intensity. looks at though north of birmingham wont get much until after dark - when the fun and games start

Humm thought that was the end of the snow but just checked weather forecast for tomorrow night and wednesday and it has temps around 0C and heavy snow More fun and games then lol ............. I do reckon the meto are on the cautionary side with this though................

Yesterdays snow was definitely worth waiting for!!! Best for some time it has to be said - my car is still stuck 5 minutes from my house!!! hopefully it will thaw slightly today so I can get it moving again

working from home today but hopefully can get out in a bit to take a few pics and do some sledging.........'just make sure no one sees me' haha most snow of the winter so far coming down heavier now again........hopefully this lasts all day

anyone travelling around sedgley the roads are getting bad now - definitely the worst of this spell on the roads. This is possibly the one day where the schools are ok to be closed.... will take some pics later over looking the view - but inplaces 6 inches plus (obviously totals over the last week). Time for the boots and sedgley beacon sledging later A good 5cms in the night and I reckon we are not finished yet

sounds like a decent fall all over - not sure how much, but there is more on my car than last wednesday or monday mornings for sure..........................at least 3-4cms worth possibly slightly more. humm shall I have a snow day and work from home. not snowing at the moment though

i hope more than 1-2cms - there is already more than that on my driveway

just got back in and ppn has moved quite alot in 2 hours imo!!! Feels bitter cold out now and wind has picked up (-2 in my mates car just but it was a vauxhall!!!) - also just noticed some 10inch icicles hanging off my porch lol. Hopefully not long to go til the fun and games start.

BBC forecast looked better than expected!!! It looks as though it will at least reach West Mids then. Temps are pretty good now - it could stay below freezing all day tomorrow if the snow hangs around. the feb 1996 stuff was not particularly heavy but it lasted 18 hours and ended up with 7-8 inches in that time........obviously really optimistic but you just never know!!!! also march 95 was hardly ever forecast but again 6 inches (although maybe fairly localised!!!) off for a couple of hours then it will be time to have a sit down and check that radar

Oh bugger - I was getting my hopes up of a proper snowfest tonight its going to be a long 18 hours..............................

hehe id take that now as Dudley / wolves areas would get hammered - 2-8mm per hour in snow terms is considerable if it stays a few hours!! not sure how you have done this but I persume the higher intensity shown is due to the mainly increased relief in these areas. Im still not confident overall and think a slight dusting for this area.................

dont think it will reach wolverhampton / dudley areas tbh - probably get a dusting at max.................

As usually happens the west midlands could be in one of the best locations for these events as forecasters are now predicting rain and sleet in the SW and south wales today with snow on the hillls........... If it reaches us tonight then we might be onto a winner........not sure how cold it is this morning but my car windscreen was frozen an hour ago so temps are currently around freezing id have thought. It would be great if the ppn could hold off until late evening time........but as you say - it may not even reach us.

Humm if only - that covers me and it ifs still snowing then - we could be in for a right dumping lol! after the disappointment of yesterday - i reckon no snow at all....anything more and il be happy

to be honest im less concerned about temps and whether it will be snow or not but more about if there is enough ppn about............... seems abit hit and miss at the moment whether it will properly reach north west of birmingham.

It will stall over the Midlands at 11.30pm tuesday night until 10am wednesday morning and we will all get 20cms and 6ft drifts

I really hope we get a massive dumping.......... Then it'll be ok for the schools to close Although it looks like we could miss out - if it does work out for us - its got potential to be very potent going by the current intensity charts.........10mm of rain is 4inches and there could more ppn than that
