1. Did abit of driving today and it seems in the north west of birmingham / wolves area - around 2inches which isnt bad..... back home in sedgley slightly more but thats probably due to the high ground......to be honest there was more snow here at 10.30 last Tuesday night!!! Looking on the forecasts etc it seems people to the south east of the region could be in for a real dumping later - Wiltshire could get 40cms lol!!!! Just hope the ppn comes further north than expected..........the local radio is still predicting 10cms for wolverhampton but I very much doubt it.
2. Have heard reports its snowing heavily in Mansfield at the moment! Working in Willenhall now (North of Brum towards Wolverhampton) and v.light snow for the past 20 mins......flurries really......around 1-2cms still on the ground from this morning. Roads are fine but waiting for the chaos lol hoping it will pick up soon
3. another non event - hummm another wait until next time 2-3cms may be but nothing much looking at the latest data for later on
4. a cm or 2 of snow and thats on the high ground of the West Midlands when are we due 15cm's plus here like we used to frequently in the 80-90's Not a happy bunny lol.
5. West Midlands hasnt had any real snowfall for a while - wonder if we'll get alot later
6. Small covering in walsall - prob 1-2cms......but stopped now. Prolonged Snow later this evening and overnight possible me hopes
7. West Midlands - absolutely nothing yet ...........had an inch on 23rd December, then another inch on the 29th Dec which didnt last too long...... fingers crossed for things to improve
8.

I wouldnt class northampton as the midlands though - its the South . Yes you've had it good this year
9. from 87-96 the black country had some great snows!!! 87,88,90,91,94,95,96 but not much since. west mids seems to do better when we get west or south west lows off the atlantic when there is cold air over us but the mild air struggles so the ppn turns to snow...... parts of west mids are actually pretty well situated for snow tbh - as most are on fairly high ground. If the midlands gets a good bashing then usually wolverhampton can see some of the worst of it. Its just the weather has not been so severe really in the last 13 years -especially north west of birmingham....odd 2-3 inch snowfalls - nothing that major. the bbc/met office were fairly accurate but they hyped their forecast (especially on sunday - I really thought we was in for a bashing!!!).....2-4 inches of snow is not a winter storm. parts of the south had really heavy rain but they were concentrated on the snow risk. you read the papers such as the express n star and they say its the worst winter for 18 years but thats just because the SE had it bad - midlands apart from several small'ish falls missed out. The day time temps have been high and even night times its only been down to -6. apart from the odd occasion have always been disappointed with the winter weather since 96. suppose being around as a kid in the late 80-then 90s - i can remember my childhood being heavy snowfalls year after year. due to the lack of snowfall - a 10cm fall is now seen as major.
10. to be fair, there was as much snow in sedgley this morning as any morning last week....(7cms ish -I had to clear my drive!) I was quite surprised that once id travelled down to bilston (quite abit lower) that it had all gone. Just goes to show what higher ground does. overall for the black country/wolverhampton areas - the snowfalls have been poor so far this year....even feb 07 was better. Only difference this year is that it has snowed on several mornings in a row. seems to be south of birmingham when most of the snow has occurred so far this year. and a winter storm event - oh dear!
11. fairly heavy now - prob around 4-5cms....hard to judge but a very decent covering coming along..........not that far off thursdays amount id say. was hoping for a few hours more of this - depends if the ppn stalls like it was supposed on the met radar. still overall disappointed - was expecting 20cms yesterday and drifting lol.
12. im getting worried now................... a covering -2cms max, but its fairly light snow. things need to change fast if its gonna be a snow event to remember.
13. feb 96 was a big snow event so you should have got that - it hit the midlands and the northwest - i think it was eskdalemuir that got massive snowfalls -we got around 6-7 inches but it snowed for 24 hours and was very cold, -6 in snow is quite rare... staffs had it really bad! nov 96 happened in the daytime, was around 18th of the month i think.......that may have been more localised.
14. im 27 and the best snowfalls I can remember were dec 90 (started off as rain like tonight and wasnt forecast to be that severe - but around 12 inches!!), feb 91, feb 94, mar 95, feb 96, nov 96 (freak that was!) ermmm then nothing really that major since unfortunately.........yer I remember feb 07 that was quite good. Can vaguely remember late 80s and I did hear 87/88 was pretty severe and my school was closed all week lol...ahhh those were the days lol. I have found it poor tbh around here this year so far.....lets see what happens tonight
15. upper gornal now by the good intent pub!, my parents live on the brownswall estate! I can remember some big snowfalls in our area over the years!
16. no winds either - moden hill/sedgley usually get battered by winds when they are forecast. I was meant to go gym but decided to be a snow watcher this evening - have I made the right choice.
17. properly covered here now - prob 1cm but nowhere near winter storm conditions ........... lets wait and see, bbc/met has been fairly good with timing so far but it reallys needs to intensify in the next few hours to provide major snowfalls.
18. isnt this where the marginal temps difference will come into play -saw this loads of times before - sticks in higher parts, dosent at lowel levels.....im sure it will stick everywhere soon..... it was raining here an hour ago!
19. lol i thought it was still sleeting - to my amazement its now sticking to the roads and pavements and its not that heavy really.
20. no winter storm yet near wolverhampton - light sleet, no wind.......................grrr I really did think this would be a BIG event....prob another 5cms again
21. hopefully not another let down tonight - just got home and driving through sedgley at the highest point - it was a little sleety. was expecting a heavy snowfall . no winds at the moment either.....suppose alongway to go.
22. no way should the schools in the west mids been closed last week - ok monday was abit dodgy late on but no more than 5-7cms on thursday morning. tuesday's closure was a joke - roads were fine.
23. its still totally dry (fingers crossed) where Im working not far from wolverhampton......
24. north of J6 of the M6 looks like best potential for snow based on current info. if it rains in sedgley/dudley then that could spell problems as its usually one of the first places to see rain turning to snow when its touch and go as its looking like today. ive known heavy snow in dudley then rain in central birmingham.
