  1. john warner was just on the radio - wolverhampton area he said upto 20cm of snow later today...... but he is usually wrong  we will have to see. saying that - yesterday it fell all as snow from 4pm around here........... must be very hard to predict - on the BBC -they have got wolverhampton as being 1c max all day now!
  2. Yes agree with that - persistant continental cool air. midlands (north of birmingham) so far in terms of snowfall has been low........ born in 81.....first good snowfall (6 inches plus) I can remember was the 87 one. Since then jan '88, dec 90 (probably the deepest ever single snow event in my lifetime!!! - brought the mids to a standstill), feb 91 (can remember this being the coldest ever snap I have lived through -2 -5 in the day time for a week!) feb 94, mar 95 (snowed north of birmingham - didnt last long but a good 15cms plus), feb 96, nov 96 and then nothing that major since tbh.......prob no more than a 4inch snowfall. this year snowfall has been poor - no more than 5-7cms and not that cold - but its been below average temps all the time. im on fairly high ground too - around 200m asl. I find that the media has hyped this cold spell up due to the fact in the south - the snow has been severe. The potential for heavy snow elsewhere is there but so far its mainly been the south only....... tomorrow night could be interesting for the midlands as if it all falls as snow and the winds are as strong as the forecasts are suggesting - it could bring a similar storm like the dec 90 one!!!!!
  3. looking at all the info on here - it looks like it could go either way..... suppose thats the fun of it all................. it just gets you down when you think it could be a mammoth snow event and you get nowt!!! has done this time and time again.......
  4. snowing in sedgley and already a covering think tomorrow nights snow could be a big event.........fingers crossed - hopefully north of brum will get a good amount this time!!!
  5. is it really been that good???? im probably 25 miles from you max and its been a big over-hype in wolves......we really must have missed out - 2007 was better than this week so far. monday 5-7cms - never snowed monday night thursday - again prob 5-7cms. last night - 1cm the 90s were in a different league north of brum - dec 90, feb 91, feb 94, mar 95(when it was supposed to rain but snowed and caused chaos!!! - wolverhampton came to a standstill), feb 96 - all these I remember being BIG snow events - at least 15cms plus.....some were nearer a ft personally I prefer a one off big snowfall then small snowfalls over a few days. il remember this week for it being constantly on the news but not for the big snowfalls...... sunday come on
  6. it must be pretty severe around the Shefford area as they have closed our head office down there due to snow...... Wolverhampton area has had hardly any decent snow all week - no more than 5-7cms at any one time    think with all the news reports and the hype - just expected way way more. maybe sunday.............
  7. west mids always favours best when precip comes from the west from the atlantic and meets the cold air front....only prob with that, ends up getting milder in 80% of occasions................. sunday is meant to be an atlantic front so we will see..... cant see much happening tonight north of brum from what I have seen on reports etc
  8. it looks as though everywhere apart from the black country (wolves-dudley area) has had loads of snow going by the news and weather reports - its been p**s poor around here this week lol. north west midlands is due its turn soon surely
  9. hi mate!! yes im from sedgley too - which usually gets some of the worst snow due to being on higher ground as you know, but this week has been a let down so far. no more than 5-6cms max. im 27 but can still remember the great snows of the past - especially in the 90s........we had more than this 2 years ago when it snowed in the afternoon proper let down - been looking forward to a proper snowfall for ages now......... there is now snow forecast for sunday
  10. just joined here!!! Yes I remember that snow....living in sedgley nr dudley so fairly high ground. can remember it being pretty severe!!! that winter also had the heavy snows of feb 1991 - again pretty heavy snow. since then its snowed several times nearly as bad in the early/mid 90s.....last few years been boring though even this week hasnt been nothing to note - prob 2-4 inches at the moment.
