  1. Is the snow still coming? Got a light dusting overnight, but that's all.
  2. Clear sky 0.6c. Earl Shilton. Leics Had a lot of snow started about 9 ish uptil about 5pm. 6pm turned to sleaty rain. Not much snow left now. Been a truly awesome afternoon watching the snow falling and chucking snow balls for the dogs.
  3. Earl Shilton, Leics. Broken cloud , 1.9 no snow, yet.
  4. It's nit just the lack of snow and cold that's depressing, it's these dark damp days. I'm still keeping fingers crossed the coming cold is deeper than forecast and we get some fluffy white stuff, failing that cold, crisp days with blue skys.
  5. The sun is shining and it's a lovely day. If cold and snow are a little way off yet, this will do me fine. At least its not raining. I see on the model thread they are saying a chance of cold mid to late Jan.
  6. I'm looking forward th 14th Jan, I've ordered snow lol In the meantime I'm still looking for reindeer poop on the roof. Happy new year, folks.
  7. Here in earl Shilton, it looks like it could snow, it feels like it could snow, but so far no snow. I guess I'm just wishful thinking.
  8. Hi everyone. Winter's on it's way, not that you can tell by the weather so far. Foggy and damp, dull and grey here in Earl Shilton.
  9. I got excited first thing as we had snow grains, but ... Nothing since.
  10. Got back from lake district on new years eve. I was surprised that while I was there I saw no snow, even the peaks were clear of snow. I had hope to get snowed in and get an extended holiday. I was a relieved to see Nick's post, above (I didn't understand all of the terms though, so off to look them up), it sounds quite positive.
  11. Yesterday we got some snow. It made me feel christmasy. It didn't fall for long but the snow shower was quite heavy. All the snow had gone by tea time. Today it's back to Wet, with a great big W.
  12. We've got sleet. It's on and off and it looks light clouds are thinning.
  13. Here in Earl Shilton It's damp with not a flake of snow in sight. Feel pretty cold, but 4c
  14. It's cloudy here, but so far, it's dry. Ancient thermometer reading 3c to 4c, it feels a lot colder though.
  15. I missed the forecast. I really hope the wind misses us, but I would love some snow.
  16. LOL, yeah, that would be one clever barometer wouldn't it.I really shouldn't post after consuming a couple of glasses of Baileys Irish Cream. In fact, the reading came from a very old mercury thermometer ( it was my grandad's). It is in a shelter position in the yard, though I can't swear to its accuracy, it has always been pretty reliable. I'm without my weather station, it's still on the boat, I'll have to fetch it back.
  17. It's great tp hear that some snow is making it into the midlands. Please, please, please, post photos, I have almost forgotten what the stuff looks like. No snow here, but despite being above freezing by the time I got up this morning, there was black ice on the paths. Walking the dogs was interesting to say the least. Doggies with four paw drive easily out maneuvered me. Thinking of harnesses and a sledge, but as they are only terriers I have dismissed the idea.
  18. It was pleasantly cold last night and first thing this morning. I was relieved to hear that at least some of you have had some snow. I was starting to believing in global warming . . . phew! I see you have your snow shield up and running, Andy.
  19. I'm here. I've been reading but not posting much, because the weather here at the moment is a bit . . . well you know . . . boring. Still, I wish all of you who have the chance of some snow, lots of luck with the white fluffy stuff. May you get loads of it. Meanwhile, I'll just keep polishing the runners on my sledge - one day I'll get to use it
  20. Hope you didn't have to spend too much time in the cold. Its 6c here, but feels a lot colder. Clear sky, with a great view of Jupiter.
  21. It was quite a bit cooler this morning 6c, and very foggy. At least it felt autumnal.
  22. It was cooler this morning 9c. The sun came out, the temp's climbed to a balmy 12c.
  23. The news paper said today they this weather was more like May. Well, I have to tell you I planted a sweet pea plant in august, and it'sstill growing nicely (only had one flower on it but plenty of leaves). I'm going to start sulking if we don't get some frost soon.
  24. Hi everyone. It's still a bit warm for my liking, but things are starting to cool down now. I just hope today's chill is not a fluke. I really couldn't stand a warm wet winter. I want frost and snow.
