Don't know why people are talking about snow showers, a quick glance at the radar suggests nothing of note!
Well we got nothing when it was forecast for us, so maybe as its now not forecast we will get some . It really is clouding up quite nicely even if it is a tadd warmer than I would like it to be.

pigs might fly, very bizarre to see that. Yesterday snow only fell during heavish precip of which looks very few and far between at the minute so cant see that materialising.
All pigs fed and ready to fly. Just hope they are not to fat for take off

Just cut & Paste this from Met Office site. Fingers firmly crossed.

I see that my signiture has come to pass! (points below)
What a miserable day, I too thought that I'd be waking up to a bit of snow this morning, but all there is, is the most cold damp grey and depressing winter scene that you could ever ask for.
Reminds me of winter cross country at school in the eighties where it was always like this, only there was a nasty PE teacher who used to have a mousatche like hitler and with good reason.
Well at least we have the next (failed) snow event to look forward to.....Do I sound depressed??
Hugs and passes the valium.

Got up in the night after over indulging on baileys and mince pies, I was so pleased to see heavy snow hurtling past the window and starting to stick on the grass. It was really magical with just the soft noise of the snow and wind. I went to back to bed with dreams of waking to a snowy scene this morning. When I went back to bed the temp was a steady 0.5c.
Got up this morning to 3c, rain and mud, but hey ho I'm still delighted that I actually saw some snow both falling and on the ground.
Is there any chance of some more or is that it for the time being?
-
I'm off to cook dinner. Hopefully things will have changed by the time I get back online.
I do still think that despite the temps etc as they are at the moment, it will change and we will get snow.

Absolute whiteout here minus 8 just look at my back garden.
LOL where did I put that passport
-
It is going to snow.
good job there's nothing on the telly, lamp post lit and ready to be watched.
-
Temp 3.6c and falling, but as someone commented earlier my weather station reads a little high.
I have just been out for a ciggy, there is the odd spot of rain being carried in the wind.
-
Good things come to those who wait.
I'm waiting
and waiting
Ok were's my snow
I do think we will get some this time.
-
Snow damn it snow.
-
I thought the temperature was meant to be dropping now, why is it continuing to rise?
Temp has started to fall here, dropped 0.5 last in the 10 mins

Just watched the East Midlands forecast, the maps on screen showed us to get quite a bit of snow, so here's hoping
Temp at the moment is to high at 4.0c but I'm dearly hoping its going to start to drop soon, there is a stiff breeze which makes it feel a lot colder. The canal is almost totally thawed though there are still large blocks of floating ice. The ground is damp but there is still some frost in places and there was black ice when I took the dog for his walk.

Just watched the BBC 12.20 weather report online, why did he only forecast up to 13.00hrs?
-
I'm also very confused, either there trying to cover there A**** or they don't have a clue.
I think they are as confused as us. With the wide variations from the models I'm not surprised
Think we should put the words snow and rain on a coin and flip it

I really don't know what to make of it. BBC weather has me down for heavey snow from 9am tomorrow, netweather has me down for sleet/rain, the Met Office just have an advisory.
Woolly hat and snow boots or a brolley and wellingtons?
I've been reading the posts from both this thread and the model threads, to be honest I thought the model thread people where going to come to blows
Beautiful sunny day here after some fog mid morning.
Temp down to -2.4c last night and hovering about 3.3c at the moment.
The canal refroze last night after partly thawing with floating chunks of ice yesterday.
Boats that broke the ice before it started to thaw were struggling through over 1 to 2 inch thick ice. Most boats gave up and moored. It was only a working boat with full load of coal and diesel on board manage to break the ice.

Merry Christmas all....sorry I'm late saying it, to tired to come on yesterday after all that cooking and eating and hic! Hope santa brought you all you asked for.
It was great to see your posts with the hope of snow on the way, as you know we didn't get any snow that stuck here in hinckley. Do you really think it going to come off and not be a wash out?
-
Think my weather station has had a bit of a wobbly... apparently 2.6c with a Dew Point of -9 Haha.
Poor things having a nervous breakdown....
I'm getting 1.1c then 1.3c then 1.1c again.
-
I've never had so much exercise, walk to the window, back to the keyboard, press f5, back to the window...phew this is hard work.
Still raining and temp dropping 1.1c from 1.3c (hinckley)
-
the 1 thing about the warning that stands out, is the OUTBREAKS OF RAIN WILL TURN INCREASINGLY TO SLEET AND SNOW. we have very light rain atm, hopefully the sleet and snow will start when it gets heavier.
Yes I read that too. I was to frightened to quote it, didn't want to tempt fate. Here's hoping.
-
Just popped outside for a quick look, its raining (hinckley).
-
Not meaning to be rude on a forum , I got caught short on the way home while riding down the canal , and I had to stop for a wee , I must have changed at least a square meter of snow back to grass again It won't take much to melt what we have , trust me .
Stop drinking all that coffee!!!
-
Temp 1.3c (hinckley)
Looking at met office map its going to glide past on either side of us.
-
At first it was from the east...nothing.
Then it was the north...virtually nothing.
Then from the west...absolutely nothing.
We then try the south...surely we have to get something?!
lol I said exactly the same thing to my friend earlier today, so Fingers crossed

I've just been reading the model thread and people seem to be getting excited about the latest runs.
Weather09, you seem to have a good grasp of the model outputs are they really as unusual as is being suggested?
