  1. Just cut & Paste this from Met Office site. Fingers firmly crossed.

East Midlands: Derby Derbyshire Leicester Leicestershire Lincolnshire Northamptonshire Nottingham Nottinghamshire Rutland Heavy Snow & Widespread Icy Roads Thu 31 Dec Snow showers are expected to affect many areas but especially coasts and hills exposed to the north. 2. I see that my signiture has come to pass! (points below)

What a miserable day, I too thought that I'd be waking up to a bit of snow this morning, but all there is, is the most cold damp grey and depressing winter scene that you could ever ask for.

Reminds me of winter cross country at school in the eighties where it was always like this, only there was a nasty PE teacher who used to have a mousatche like hitler and with good reason.

Well at least we have the next (failed) snow event to look forward to.....Do I sound depressed?? :)

    Hugs and passes the valium.

  3. Got up in the night after over indulging on baileys and mince pies, I was so pleased to see heavy snow hurtling past the window and starting to stick on the grass. It was really magical with just the soft noise of the snow and wind. I went to back to bed with dreams of waking to a snowy scene this morning. When I went back to bed the temp was a steady 0.5c.

Got up this morning to 3c, rain and mud, but hey ho I'm still delighted that I actually saw some snow both falling and on the ground.

Is there any chance of some more or is that it for the time being?

  4. Just watched the East Midlands forecast, the maps on screen showed us to get quite a bit of snow, so here's hoping :cc_confused:

Temp at the moment is to high at 4.0c but I'm dearly hoping its going to start to drop soon, there is a stiff breeze which makes it feel a lot colder. The canal is almost totally thawed though there are still large blocks of floating ice. The ground is damp but there is still some frost in places and there was black ice when I took the dog for his walk.

  5. I really don't know what to make of it. BBC weather has me down for heavey snow from 9am tomorrow, netweather has me down for sleet/rain, the Met Office just have an advisory.

Woolly hat and snow boots or a brolley and wellingtons?

I've been reading the posts from both this thread and the model threads, to be honest I thought the model thread people where going to come to blows :help:

Beautiful sunny day here after some fog mid morning.

Temp down to -2.4c last night and hovering about 3.3c at the moment.

The canal refroze last night after partly thawing with floating chunks of ice yesterday.

Boats that broke the ice before it started to thaw were struggling through over 1 to 2 inch thick ice. Most boats gave up and moored. It was only a working boat with full load of coal and diesel on board manage to break the ice.

  6. Merry Christmas all....sorry I'm late saying it, to tired to come on yesterday after all that cooking and eating and hic! Hope santa brought you all you asked for.

It was great to see your posts with the hope of snow on the way, as you know we didn't get any snow that stuck here in hinckley. Do you really think it going to come off and not be a wash out?
