Oh god, there must be a mistake, Leicester has a warning for rain, turning to snow! :lol:
Must say though, the pptn looks to be going West of Leicester... though I haven't actually looked what track it's meant to take.

where do I look up the accurate dew point for Hinckley and what does it need to read for snow?

Temp here now falling steadily. We're down to 1.3c.
I had given up on the idea of snow this side of christmas and here we are again willing that band to bring us snow snow.

Txt from Mother in Market Harborough, saying fog has decended.
Here in Hinckley temp has dropped from 2.7c down to 1.7c with cloud thickening.

What's the chances of finally seeing some snow on the leicestershire/warwickshire border?

We have got a lot of cloud building up but the temp is hovering about 2.7c not looking very good I'm afraid. The ground is still frozen so if it rains its going to turn to solid ice when the temps fall again.
Spoke to Mum this morning in Market Harborough they still have lots of snow on the ground.
My Sister in Salisbury says they have rain at the moment which is turning the snow to icey slush.

Just had a text from my sister in Salisbury, she says its falling as rain there now and they have not had any snow at all.

Well here we go again, fingers crossed again. Though to be honest I've been really enjoying the sunny and frost. Took the dog out this morning and it was perfect. The low sun making the frosty surface sparkle, the trees with frost on them against a perfect blue sky.
As we have had only a sprinkle that looks like icing sugar, it would be nice to have enough for a snowball fight. Just praying that if we do get some, the roads are clear Christmas morning or my poor mum will be spending christmas day alone and I'll be eating toast for christmas dinner lol.

We missed out yet again, but I have to say its been a gloriously cold and sunny winters day.
Maybe we will be lucky next time the snows about. I guess its game over for the time being.

1.4 and a dp of 0.1 now here. Feels much warmer than earlier and with rain up north I have no hope left in me again! Good luck to those in the east, I'm off to drink wine :lol:

Just been out for a smoke, there is a light breeze starting up & temp starting to drop back. temp rose to 1c but falling back fluctuating 0.5c to 0.7c

The two nearest weather stations both roughly 5miles away from us, 1 to the north and 1 to the south say -0.4 and -0.7, those temps taken at 6:40
fluctuation might be due to heat leaking out of boat window, sensor is on the edge of the roof near the window. I have fire blazing away, might be clutching at straws but the temp in here is a sweltering 26.7c (forgot to throttle stove back after putting more coal on)

Did you not see the latest BBC forecast? Says that the band of snow will move around Norton Canes as it hits the snow shield. :lol: :lol:
Think that snow shields extending to here temp going up 0.6 grrrrr

If you look on the Netweather radar the bit coming over West Midlands is crap. Compare it to what the North East is getting... They are getting pasted, we are in for about 1cm at best and then it will steam through in about an hour. I knew it was going to be a garbage event anyway.
You have to get more that 1cm because if you don't, being next in line we won't get any at all.

Temp here just dropped back to below freezing -0.4

The canal has remained frozen all day, a couple of boats have just broken the ice, the noise was incredible. The hull of my boat amplifying it, it sounds like the ice is singing followed by loud cracks and bangs as the ice breaks.

It went down to -6.6c here in Hinckley last night, the temps climbed to 2.2 and has just started to drop back. We have had clear blue skies all morning, it has in the last 1/2 hr begun to cloud up. I am not sure how big the cloud band is as I have very limited view of the horizon due to trees.
I have my fingers crossed for snow this evening, are the chances good or is it going to fizzle away to nothing before it gets to us?
Since I started typing the temp has dropped to 1.9c
