  1. A really sharp frost last night. The canal has once again frozen over. It was lovely walking the dog about 7am, everywhere White with frost and a hazy blue sky. The over night low was-4.4c, current temp 2.1c with cloud.

I was just getting used to the idea of spring breaking through, but it looks like we are in for a cold dry spell for a few days.

  2. Its 3c and tipping it down with rain, some gust wind.

Got soaked walking the dog this morning and the mud was horrid.

I keep hearing rumors of more snow on the way, is the cold on its way back? I thought that large low was going to bring just the wet and windy weather that has already started, I was surprised to see the temp so low this morning.

  3. Its cold and grey here today, no snow or rain. Yesterdays snow is still clinging on where the sun did not reach otherwise its all gone. From what I can gather from the post I have read, I don't think we will get anymore from this until maybe tomorrow later on in the day and only then if we are lucky. Not complaining as we have had lots of snow over this winter so far, I'm just being greedy wanting more.

  4. hi im due in hinckely at 3.30 for a meeting can you keep me posted on developing situation. Thnaks

You should be ok, whilst the temp has now dropped to 2.2c from 4c the snow is not settling even on the grass. I know that it could well change in the space of 2 hrs and if it does you won't be able to miss the post with lots of smileys.

    Hope your meeting goes well

  5. i really dont have high hopes for this settling it has to be said, i think a few hours of precip is most likely, starting to dissipate late afternoon/early evening.

The temp here is certainly on the wrong side of marginal even though the dew point is -1c (according to the weather channel). Still I'm always wrong in my predictions for weather so...I'm saying it will be wet snow that won't settle....lets hope that true to form I'm very very wrong.

  6. snowing here for about 2 and half hours now, nothing settled though. just hope its not the last of it this week. We really could do with a big load of snow to start a cold spell rather than end it as seems to be the case most of the time. Plenty of potential in the output for the next two weeks though and im certain there will be upgrades and downgrades as we go.

Your right about it not settling but at least the temps have started to drop, I'm getting 1.2c from the sensor as apposed to 2.1c about 1/2hr ago. If only the snow and the temps can keep falling........fingers crossed here.

  7. I'm driving up from Suffolk to Newcastle and back on Sunday, the Met Office forecast cloudy and 5c, and you're forecasting snow. What to do?

By Satutrday night you should know if you need to pack a shovel :)

Fingers crossed the models are more consistent and agree before then to give a better idea.

    Safe Journey John

  8. Interesting reading on the Model thread this morning, all seem to be agreeing that the cold is coming back, possibly from the weekend. If the charts that are posted turn into reality it will be brilliant.

Just going to bung the hat, scarf and gloves in the washer and polish the sledge ready to welcome back the snow.....or am I getting over excited to early?

Temp at present 7.7c reading on the sensor and guess what its raining but it is brightening. This less cold spell has certainly helped with the coal bill and it means I've got a good stock of coal ready to bank up the stove next week. :)

  9. temp 3.2c at 11.37pm and its been raining on and off all evening. The temp did creep up to 4c earlier this even but has dropped back a little now.

Didn't expect any snow but was hoping against hope for some. Never mind at least it shouldn't be icey in the morning, was a nightmare trying to walk the dog at 6am.
