Hey guys! I live on South coast, haven't seen a flake of snow in years (literally), is it worth driving over 100 miles to the midlands (an back) to see the elusive snow?

Does anyone know if Brighton is close to storm track?
Also how are people planning to celebrate this event?

GOOD LUCK WITH THE SNOW PEOPLES>> looking very promising. So looking forward to (attempting) the train journey to The Peak District tommorow, coming all the way from brighton- 250 miles! I'm more worried about weather the trains will be running tho....

-
my heated paddling pool is going to cause a lightening bolt one day xD
Warm and rather rainy here not much else atm.
Good luck with the storms guys!
-
ps if you get cold -coat and gloves>?

Everyone interested (you guys i hope) should turn there central heating off over the coming snow period to reduce urban heat pollution, and as an act against global warming! Call it a snow day!!
-
Here is a new thread for the SE and London. Alot of uncertainty over the weekend so please try not to get too attached to the current set of charts, as they may change.
cant help but get attatched there AWESOME!

i think why your all getting wildly different and low pressure readings is due to altitude; the higher you are the lower the pressure

Someone is going to have egg on their faces on Friday. If the Met keep on with Friday's storm when the others are backing away then i would expect the Met Office to reflect this in their next update.
Mind you - they have been on their own before and been proved correct!
i'm at 993
These considerable differences are most likely due to elevation above sea level; pressure drops rapidly with even a small rise in altitude. To compensate for this instruments should ideally be sea level calibrated.

Looka good for the South coast on Thursday. I expect it will change when it comes to it though.
Yeah 70mph Gusts would be way out of the normal range on the South coast i'm thinking? Double storm monday night and thursday possible! Monday night one looks slightly weaker but more probable.

I agree.. yes windy stormy weather can kill... but really... what kills the most.. is them hot heat waves in the summer.. that sun lovers love.. just like some of us like snow and stormy weather.
Good point, i blame climate change.

Distasteful?
It's sad that people die due to adverse weather conditions, but that is inevitable. People on this forum pee their pants at the prospects of snow yet every year when it snows people always die on the roads. It's life, and I find it incredibly hard to feel sorry for every person who dies at the hands of mother nature. If that makes me a bad person, then I guess I am a bad person!
Anyway, back on topic, still breezy here and the pressure is rising rapidly.
Personally I would be honored to see such a big storm even if it killed me, as long as i got to see it first.
-
yeah but they are saying 29mph gusts here, meto are saying 60mph ,big difference, who will be right???
Netweather says up to 60mph gusts Brighton (coastal) and i would go with that. Obviously more if your up North near the coast.

Cheers Paula! If Michael Fish tells us there's no hurricane or anything to worry about then you know its time to run.
-
Perhaps the wrong thread really, but as a consequence of the forecast storm, the MetO have issued this now.
http://www.metoffice...ldweatheralert/
What's going on?
Surely the storm is not tracking on a more southerly trajectory? The latest satellite image sequence from http://www.yr.no/sat..._animasjon.html appears to show the depression on a track further south!
Maybe its just me, let's hope so, us southerners couldn't cope with a mega storm.
Cheers
gottolovethisweather
I really hope so! Brighton by the sea could use a good storm! Hey you northerners send this down south when you've had your fun heh?! P.s. Brighton is South of London if you can imagine such a thing!

6.5C estimated

LOL at the IPCC and the way they continually change their story to fit the the data.
Its what any decent scientist would do!

Far less ice than there should be this time of year and every year in memmory. Every year less.
