Yet another none event for Spalding Lincs. All the maps/radars seem to suggest we will have snow but as always the snow failed to arrive.

This morning looks very wintry, a trough moving westwards overnight brought a good fall of snow between 5 - 7cm, and still falling lightly. The Northerly wind present for much of the last week has shifted slightly to NNE although much less brisk than of late.

This morning snow showers will become less frequent but cloud will persist especially this afternoon and into the early evening. Shower activity may increase again later today, driven further inland on a moderate breeze which continues to shift further around to the east.

    -0.1C (min -0.9C @03:45) windchill -0.7C

3kts NNE (10 minute average); gusting 6kts (1 minute average over last hour); max gust 10kts @ 04:30

0.0mm/hr last hour; max 0.0mm/min over last 12hrs; total 0.00mm/12hrs

1011.2hPa msl corrected, trend rising slowly, +0.6hPa/hr

    79% humidity

Heavy hail/snow showers here all night in Dublin. Current temp. 1.5C. Good covering of hail after each shower which tends to melt away before the next one comes along. The east/north-east wind has really picked up here - just worried that it's blowing 'warmer' air off the Irish Sea - temp. was 2.8C when I got up this morning.

Worryingly for me the temperature is already 2.4ºC and rising, that was the maximum yesterday,

Snow is definitely thawing at a reasonable rate, we kept hold of the cover well yesterday.

    10cm left.

Exceptional warmth for western Europe as October begins

There'll be exceptionally warm temperatures for the time of year affecting much of western Europe during the coming days, but that warmth will only graze the UK for now. Next weekend may see a more direct hit with the potential for southerly winds to draw some of that heat north and take temperatures into the mid or high-twenties. Read the full update here
