Historic Nor’Easter to Wallop New York, New England

Observations and model output over the last few hours continue to point toward a snowstorm/blizzard tonight and Tuesday that will affect tens of millions of Northeasterners with potential record snowfall, extremely high winds, and significant coastal flooding. Snow was quickly developing on Monday morning across the New York metro area and southern New England. Below is a summary of the potential impacts from this major weather event. We will provide frequent updates as the storm unfolds through a live blog created by Weather Underground’s Shaun Tanner.

Is anyone else totally confused by the snow clearing antics on the 47th and Broadway cam? Watch for a minute - it is labour intensive and completely disorganised.

Yes, very odd, seems completely futile too !

I know they made mention earlier of clearing snow around hydrants for emergency services, but random sections of 'sidewalk'. Erm ???! Looks fun though.

Are they going to be there all night and all day tomorrow too?

And the storm proper is still some way away!

Wish I'd done a bit of planning now to find out if there was pub somewhere prepared to show the weather channel into the early hours of the morning. I'd be there! :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WV2jJKHVw0#t=28  - This high quality stream should be fun to watch as it all unfolds.. Already a rather decent covering.  :cold:

That's a good one to watch as it is on Long Island, one of the hotspots for snow. There was a guy shoveling snow earlier on this feed too. Maybe he's trying to avoid it building up beyound a certain depth so that it will be easier to clear once the snow stops.

It's going to be very interesting to see the coverage Tuesday morning.

I am curious, seeing as the jetstream is ramping up again, as to whether Storm Juno could make it as far as the UK? Or is it likely to lose juice as it hits the Atlantic?
