Just noticed this on the Met Office website:

http://www.met-office.gov.uk/corporate/pre...pr20061124.html

"improved navigation and increased access to weather data - will be incorporated on the new web site."

Sounds like there could be some good improvements.

Will look forward to that :nonono:

News Flash.

New Website development will be canceled to buy a new computer so we won't mess up on future warnings. An extra Duo Core processor should fix the problem.

It's cool Gloucestershire has now been put in the South West location now instead of the West Country which I was always unsure of :)

I like the satellite imagery, it seems to update much quicker, its only 13:15 and the 13:00 image is on now.

You can also see previous images for the last few hours which you couldn't before.

wondered why my favourite links didn't work any more, thought it was the DNS playing up, why don't they just put a page telling you to go to the new site rather than just a switch it off so you get a '404' message !

or would that be too simple ? :)

First weather warning on the new site out now? :)

Looks pretty good. A bit more data, after filling all these surveys out on about adding more data to the site they finaly add more! Glad to see it's going in the right direction :)

Gutted - Middle Wallop no longer listed in the Observations ! Was I really the only one using that data. Apart from that the site looks great, more thoughts once I have had a further look later on today.

A vast improvement although I to agree about the radar and it took a bit of time to find it at first but other than that much better.

RE: Radar

Only the Met Office could employ a web designer who decided to have lime green land colour, and then have certain types of rainfall totally blend in with the land.

Idiots !

---------

Even remedial webmasters know not to do that. Ohh, it'll be changed.

Any guesses on how long it'll take them to change it?

I'm guessing probably 3-4 months minimum.

Totally agree, its a shame as the rest of the updates are very good, being able to zoom in etc, if only we could have the BBC Weather website UK Map, and METO Radar Overlay, that would be excellent

I actually like it! Big improvement and seems to upload faster as soon as you click on links, etc.

Quite why some people feel the need to put the boot into the Met Office is beyond me. There are many brilliant and dedicated people working up the road. I sometimes wonder if it's sour grapes ...

Anyway, excellent new site. Very impressed.

One thing: has anyone found the 'yesterday's weather' link yet?!

Lets hope it is as much of a hit as the new look forecast charts were when they came out
