just been out into Caversham / Reading and the roads are horrendous.

Sporadic fork lightning and torrential rainfall with no let up for hours.

Lightning seems to have petered out but thundery rumbles in the distance

South Park. Seems to have eased slightly now and got a bit lighter. Still V loud thunder. I think it strikes the mast on Reigate Hill.

Only seeing the odd bit of lightning, seems I am missing out on it again ;)

I grew up in South Park!!!

This is like a day in the middle of January with the central heating full on - hate it! Hopefully should clear my area this afternoon giving a bright dry evening in time for a walk to the village pub

I know you mean, it's really dark here in Salisbury and still raining, according to the radar map all this area has had some of the largest accumulations in the last 24 hours.

The bulk of the thundery activity appears to be in areas around the M4 pushing north and it seems like it is following this convergence line. The convergence line is pushing northwards and so areas under this have the highest chance of storms IMO. There is then more storms expected south of the M4 later as the sun comes out.

Have fun guys.

Just started to rain in Norwich, but nothing much. Windy though with lots of small twigs falling from the trees. Very Autumnal!

Does anyone have any rainfall totals for anywhere yet. Talk last night about upto 100mm / 4" possible. We must have had a couple of inches here already.

The local BBC forecast yesterday evening was pretty much spot on for today. He mentioned the heaviest rain, as the computer data told him at 17.00 yesterday, would move up across the Eastern half of Wiltshire into Gloucestershire while those places West of Salisbury plain would have heavy rain but not so bad. That is 95% what has happened so far today ; I'm to the West of Salisbury Plain and we've had persistent rain with the odd heavier burst, while East of the Plain has had torrential rain with thunder which is now moving into Gloucestershire. The 5% I've left off above is that no thunder was mentioned.

Cool to read of day darkness in places ; it's an eerie, fascinating occurence.

N-W's radar accumulation is showing (if I'm reading it right) figures between 30-40mm in the last 24 hours with some areas up to 56mm in a line roughly between the Brighton coast and Bristol but locally I'm sure there is more in places.
