That's quite remarkable as there's nothing on the nw radar archive for Runcorn this afternoon and the temperature was 8ºC...

Afternoon,

Looking at the latest soundings up wind in NW Germany, there appears to be a weak upper trough in the flow. The condensation level is around 1250m ,any moisture falling through the lower layers to the surface may well produce light snowfall in places with negative dew points. Expect some sighting of the white stuff tomorrow across parts of Central Britain. There is no depth to the scale of instability as the air aloft soon warms and drys under the high pressure but very cold air trapped in the lower layers is likely to spread further.

C

It was snowing very finely in Crowborough this morning. Had to almost squint to see it but it was certainly snow!!

Had some fine snowy dandruff type stuff (that's a technical term btw) here in Horsham this morning. Bought the traffic to a stand-still with everyone squinting so that they could try and see it

I know I'm a ramper but I'm sure I didn't imagine the v.light flurry about 3.30 today, absolutely frozen doing the school run this afternoon!

There are small fine snow flakes in the mist here tonight. Temp is -2.3C and the ground is frozen so if they get any heavier will surely lie.

Surprised about the lack of reports today..

We seen a period of sleet lasting a few hours here this morning turning to proper snow for about half an hour. It only really settled on the cars though.

Had some heavy sleet here around 11am with the odd large snowflake thrown in.

Certainly more sleet than snow.

I would think some places higher up, maybe around the stanhope area would have done a bit better.

Welcome to the forum!

You've come to the wrong place to talk about future snow i'm afraid. This thread is for reports of snow for now.

To discuss BBC forecasts this is the best thread.

http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=44136

Or this.

Or if you're brave you could dive into the Model Discussion thread.

Mark.
