Witnessed most amazing turnaround in weather conditions in life.

In 5 mins, light rain turned to heavy sleet to blizzard conditions.

Snow started to accumalate but has now stopped and is melting rapidly.

Sounds like I wasn't too hard done by, it looks like many areas got the same as Lancaster. That's more or less what I got.

A good day for "thundery wintry showers" across the country!

The sudden blizzard that Lancaster got has transferred southwards down the UK, not seeming to fizzle out too much. It should be over your area (whoever or wherever you are) before the main band clears.

Rain that just started now turned to heavy snow and blowing winds in Hythe Kent! Because it's so heavy and blowing it's settling where it just rained. Thought we would get just rain being on the coast but yay I'm off for a walk in it while it lasts catch you lot later :-) Enjoy the snow..

sudden blizzard hit approx 5pm, at least 3 inches of snow. We also had 3 flashes of lightening with thunder! :(

Wind is picking up again here. Went out with the kids and have made our snowman in the front garden. Kids in the street had a massive snow fight!

Wonderful stuff! :D:D:(:D:(

:( .....all is quiet now.Been out with my kids and generally being a kid myself!! :(

It's the first time i remember having lightening in a blizzard  The lightening was a strange electric blue, and the rumbles were 'different'?

Half an hour of mayhem from 1720-1750....

.....Winds gusted violently to approx 60mph

.....Very heavy rain then sleet for 10 mins

.....Suddenly turned into a blizzard

.....2 flashes of lightning but no thunder heard

.....About one and a half cms of snow in 15 mins

Clearing now but the kids from round here are having great fun in the street :(

Reports from Tyneside I can confirm: Newcastle and inland areas are still seeing some good snow, but apparently on the coast, according to my parents, they're now getting driving sleety rain and the snow there is melting!?

WHitstable, Kent been under Blizzards since 17.31 exactly, starting to slow a little radar looking strong for more snow in the night, We have nearly 1" now, its rather wet snow though, lays thick then starts to thaw a little... Still snowing now at 18.36 thats 1 hour of constant snow, flake size vary from small to large with temperature changes.

Made it home after having to walk all the way. and then about 30 mins after I got in the snow plough came and cleared the road.

The snow has stopped for us up here and the wind has gone too... but we are now looking at temperatures around -2'c so all the snow will be rock hard soon.

Looking at the latest radar we will probably have a few hours anyway of no snow, or just little showers.

Still snowing here, powder dry snow too, about 5-10 inches so far. Towns shut, my airports shut (as are Stanstead, Luton, City and Gatwick may shut soon, which could be fun as all the diverted flights are trying to get in there! )

There is no noticeable snow melt here in Gateshead, I would guess the temperature is below freezing, there has been a very light snow shower here for the last 15 minutes which is gradually getting heavier.

Had two bands of snow, the first last night at 7-9pm and another shorter although heavier period of snow late this morning. Real Blizzard conditions for a time. Going into Newcastle was like driving into a wall of snow.
