I don't think there is anything to get down about, we were never due anything until tmrw at the earliest, and that still looks odds on to me, and in the meantime it might get pretty cold overnight!

EDIT: Adam: I guess it could be blowing in on a pretty quick wind

I'm watching the area of snow over the Thames Estuary with keen interest. Particularly the part of it over Essex.

Could that move westwards and clip Bristol?

Running the Netweather Extra 5-minute radar for one hour animation, shows the snow flurries are moving just-about directly from the east,

but maybe very slightly north of east.

I'm not expecting showers to start making it into the South West until early tomorrow, judging by the GFS precipitation outputs (which have been pretty consistent) as well as the current distribution of showers.

It is somewhat surprising, though, to be thinking that I'm as likely to see the white stuff in Exeter as on the Tyne & Wear coast- though my University location of Norwich is usually more favoured in these easterly setups.

I'm expecting snow showers at all levels tomorrow, but they may not amount to much. The main band on Monday/Tuesday will produce a fair amount of precipitation but it may well be a wintry mix on low ground, there is sure to be plenty up on Dartmoor though.

I think with the current wind direction, anything hitting Norwich will pretty much hit Bristol if it makes it this far. Trouble is there is a great big gap in the showers for that area at the moment. Still its early days for us, but would be nice to see a few flakes tonight before the real stuff comes tomorrow.

Wouldn't it be great if this turned out to be an historical snowfall? We could be referring to Feb 09 for years to come!

Both the GFS and the UKMO bring the ppn over Wales and the South West its not the heaviest on offer but here none the less.

Indeed steady snowfall seems likely for tomorrow night, 2-10cm seems likely.

I'm interested in this second bout of precipitation due Thursday morning.

The difference here is the Low over us and to our SW is being pinned just-about in situ by that NE'ly.

Don't worry too much about the above-minus 5 T+850 tamperatures.

I've seen snow from 850-hpa temps above this before.

That looks very promising :)

I`m not expecting much tonight, infact I`ve got to drive tomorrow towing a trailer down a steep bank so it can miss here for now bet it`ll snow now. :cold:

Once that snow goes through looks like a SE-ly on tuesday looks quite breezy too so drifting of lying snow thats all I`m waiting for.

That would be good, if only it was colder :)
