Overnight snow leaving about 0.5 inches, so just a nice top up! About 2 inches left on the grass in back garden and snowman standing strong! Although the temp overnight hovered between +0.2 and +0.5C becuase of the full cloud cover. Snow melting in full sun but staying put in the shade and where its been compacted. Temp now +1.7C.

Hoping for some snow tonight!

lol just as i said people on the weather forums in general moaning about thawing snow, what do they expect in February, the sun is now as strong as early November and the airmass isn't that cold today with a light SE'ly flow off a not that cold northern france, look at the dew point charts, 4C is my high today now dropping down to 3C.

I wouldnt say early November more like mid december!!

still have lying snow here, which is almost unbelieveable considering the small totals we ended up with. Max temp today was 4.c but it is falling away now even with the light cloud cover that has pushed up from the south over the course of the afternoon.

Do the maths and work it out. Shortest day 21/12 which is nearly 7 weeks ago. Go back 7 weeks from 21/12 and you get to early November.

The sun is much stronger now and day length has increased significantly already.

Hi,

Looks like there'll be dissappointment from this snow event tonight. Looking at the radar, although ppn is moderate, bands are narrow and fragmented with bulk of it heading towards sw wales and southern ireland.

Just cloudy last night with a min of -0.8c cloudy all morning with a slight thaw can see the grass in places where the snow has blown off the fields, max was actually then at 1.9c as the cloud cleared with sun all afternoon 1.7c afternoon max.

Gradual thaw continued, still have 4-5cm on the grass and fields.

Light snow flurry has recently began, I too have doubts about this 'event' as its a touch too 'warm' and looks very patchy on the radar....we'll see!
