Curse of the low cloud is upon us - a grey & mild start - now 9.1c after 8.9c low.

I knew it'd be cloudy before even getting out of bed. Whenever I hear the sound of the city Council House bell chiming loudly (mile to my east) I know we have an east wind blowing - which nine times out of ten means cloudy skies.

Hopefully it'll break up later.

Guest North Sea Snow Convection

Yesterday was a very nice day with that pleasant cool easterly beeze and lots of sunshine. Today is quite similar with still with the breeze in the right direction. The only difference is rather hazier visibility :)

This would make ideal summer weather for me (along with storms).

Yesterday was indeed a lovely day - perfect spring weather!

Today is far from perfect - sheet grey skies temp 9.8c (barely moved since this morning) with a steady nippy breeze. Very boring and not at all pleasent.

Doesn't seem to be burning off as easterly breeze is too strong. It's always a fine line between fresh breezes & pleasent sunshine and slate grey skies with no 'weather' at all. Too unreliable and the 'good' weather you *can* get from this setup isn't good enough to counteract the 'bad' weather you more often than not get in these conditions. If it were 75% sunshine : 25% grey then ok - but it's more like 75% grey : 25% sunshine in my area at least.

Little or no chance of the sun burning off the cloud today in many parts of central UK. A forecast that was way way off by the met office and BBC transmission forecasts, not their fault though completely as they were unsure.

Current temperature: 12.1C

Minimum temperature: 4.1C

Hazy sunshine and patchy cloud in Exeter, quite warm at around 12C- not bad really.

South Shields, meanwhile, had a very sunny morning and now it's foggy there... no surprises then!
