Hi Tammy -

Are you sure that storm in NM isnt worth intercepting? - its right moving now - I reckon if you went 40 miles north you'll intercept it in a few hours

Satellite imagery suggests wave formation east of El Paso TX heading towards team's current location and Lubbock, suggests to me that severe storm development may begin around 23z and peak around 03z which would make for a sunset spectacular in the region. Regional temp and dp suggest most unstable conditions are currently near Pecos TX and so eventual storm development may be right through Brownfield or possibly a touch southeast towards Lamesa, as well as the activity further north. If it were me, I would hold tight and be in position to intercept around 00z in current position.

Okay we have booked the Hotel Rooms at the Best Western Caprock Inn at Brownfield along with National Geographic and Reed Timmer so should be fun tonight. We are going to dump the bags and give it 20 mins before deciding on next move. Should be able to Intercept the Roswell Storm and follow it back to the Hotel if it is the Only Play and can keep an eye on developments to our South along Highway 380 West

Yeah Paul sounds like a good idea, I'd certainly be prepared to intercept those cells to the west at the moment as they are looking pretty decent. Thats going to be the best bet for now, need to watch that radar very closely.

Also will be good to see that SRV I suppose!

Ooh Roswell.. Good memories from there last year (bar the food poisoning incident). Today is very simlar to May 5th last year with storms going up as they come off the mountains West of Roswell. They were slow movers last year and a great view so I hope you guys get on it time. Last year it did take a long time before it evolved into a monster photogenic supercell so I think you might have a chacne if things work out similarly. Lots of good viewing in that area also... Just a few slight hills which provide a nice vantage point.

As an Addendum, do not use the Holloman AFB radar on GRLevelX for any cell in the Roswell region. The montain range blocks all but the highest of echoes. The Canon AFB also struggles due to terrain at this distance and the tilt can be deceiving. Keep well south unless you want a hail coring as you can be right under the storm in reality when you appear south on radar... Hell who am I kidding, you'd happily take a hail core, won't you

Also... Given it's current motion, the intercept would be 2 hours from when the team left Brownfield, assuming only mild speeding :)
