Those in St Albans i think the storm that came over me is on it's way too you, although the most severe rain intensity is further north?

There are still quite a few towers around here still so maybe all is not lost, and there are still showers developing in south wales maybe heading this way :D

I;m not sure, the clouds looked so vicious...... We have some rumbles of thunder and large and heavy hail which set a car alarm off but no strikes, did you have any strikes?

OMG!!!!! So your seeing strikes are you?

What direction?

I tell you these clouds are the meanest i have seen for ages, i can state it enough! So Black now, not like its too far away either, nothing from it at all.

AM radio is picking up more strikes now.......

Sorry saint, I'm looking at the lightning detector! But I think some of the strikes must be hours old coz they should haven't happened!

As I type I've just seen some real Mammatus clouds!

Dissapointing but i've enjoyed the sunshine atleast..

Sounds like some of you have had some cracking cells today.

More towers going up to the north west , it's a breeding ground!

How long are these going to develop for? , will they develop tomorrow?

Yep. We had stike after striker after strike, mostly CG's. There was hardly a time when the thunder had stopped, although the heaviest of the rain just skirted to the south of us and then blew-up again further East!

Amazing day of storms for alot of the UK. Had some down here and can say I have heard my first thunder for 2009! Some of the cloud formations have been excellent and the radar looks crazy!

Cell leaving Essex towards the North Sea looks really potent at the moment, got returns of 250MM still which I strongly suspect is a pretty strong hail core.

Storms have eased off in this area and seems to me that the instablity across the country is slowly declining which is to be expected given the time of the eveing, though we still have got some potent cells out there it has to be said.
