yeah convection almost overhead now,but equally the sun keeps annoyingly showing his face! the carnival around the corner (with high rollercoasters - could be interesting! :o ) just let off a load of balloons - could the helium in these help storm initiation i wonder/hope? :D

woah cell fired up in Essex in just 10 mins! B)

Hopefully you will get your storm today MW, then it goes to show the SE is not a bad place for storms afterall. :D

Would seem to me the cell in Kent will expand rather than move in any particular direction before weakening i would of thought so it could be a frustrating afternoon for some and sheer joy for others.

Oh boy! I think in the next hour...

Cbs building rapidly, even under a cirrus canopy which would theoretically suppress any convection.

And WTF is going on in Kent? That is intensifying and not moved for the last hour and a half according to the METO radar! B)

Camera at the ready anyway. :o

Phil.

same here Phil, about 25 miles to your NW, quite a marked breeze picked up in the past 15 mins

The cell down the M20 is well and truly exploded - flattening at the top, horizon turning dark!!

Think I am going to have to take a trip down the M20 imminently!

still absolutely nowt happening here whatsoever! :o

Cheers GS B)

Edit: rapid convection to my south! if that moves north i may be in luck :D

Thinking perhaps the sea breeze will keep it inland from the coast... Might explain why i have such a good view of it here in blazing sunshine with monster snow white cauliflower tops towering overhead to the NW!

Hot and humid here, lots of cumulus about, no visible cumulonimbus yet but certainly appears to be a potential for a storm to form fairly soon. 26.0c.

The cell which is apparently over Suffolk/Essex is very intense! Rates of about 200mm an hour!

Convection beggining to organise in all directions now, but its especially dark to my SE, very mess clump of Development, looks like I may have a storm overhead or a few miles East of me soon.

As I feared this morning, that blasted trough has sprung back to life, inhibiting the chance of surface based storms for the midlands....although...if there's enough mid-level instability left in it, it might still spawn some elevated storms this evening, he says, grasping at straws!
