Ghastly these last 2 hours with moderate heavy driving rain, though according to radar we are nothing like as bad as the NE. Roads flooding here though and strong gusty NNW wind rattling everything.

Amazing day watching the radar and seeing the number of storm reports. Wish I was at the in-laws in cambs! Pretty nondescript but miserable weather in Edinburgh, cool with rain gradually getting heavier, but not perhaps as wet as forecast so far. 13C, worst day of a decent summer. We've so far avoided the really heavy stuff that's battered NE England. Listening to TMS, think they are going to get the next batch of showers heading south - looks impressive on sat24. Nice- Russell Crowe being interviewed by Aggers!

After the earlier storm its turned into just light rain & more greyness. Feels chilly and I felt both cold & wet cycling home in just the t-shirt. Despite earlier soakings this week it has at least felt warm on those occasions - now it feels chilly too. One word for it - HORRIBLE.

Oh well - the beer will take away the pain but no beer garden tonight

It made 14.2c max coolest july day since 2007 not as wet as then nor as windy North or NE wind then,but still fresh or strong NW winds which makes a change for direction,a few showers coming through now,and quite dark.

Well, what a day.

Our river has burst its banks and submerged the entire first floor of the riverbank offices and one hotel. The porch roof of our house has collapsed, and we now have leaks in both of our bedrooms.

It sticks in my throat to say it but this morning here was dry, bright at times, and with a temperature only a couple of degrees below the July average.
