morning OON

can you tell me how much in the past 24 hours please?

Stay safe OON.

Thanks you two; I promise you, I have no intention of going anywhere near anything even slightly risky!

It stopped raining at approximately 9am yesterday, and didn't start raining again until 9.30pm last night. Since then,

we've had another 30.4mm, and it's set-in for the day it seems.

I imagine the Eden is currently ok, because of yesterday's dry interlude (the road had reopened by 4.30pm and by 7pm, it looked pretty normal), but come this afternoon and tomorrow morning, I think it could be higher than it got yesterday if the forecast is even vaguely right.

Daily rainfall figures for the past 7 days are:

Nov 12th - 14.4mm

Nov 13th - 24.8mm

Nov 14th - 8.2mm

Nov 15th - 3.2mm

Nov 16th - 14.6mm

Nov 17th - 23.0mm

Nov 18th - 36.8mm

Nov 19th - 24.0mm (so far)

Those figures are for Great Asby - heaven only knows what the totals will be in places like Mallerstang which are upstream of Appleby.

Today will likely prove to be the fourth day this month where daily rainfall exceeds 30mm.

tks for the data OON

30-60mm is quite probable on low ground before the front clears it away through tomorrow morning and still a risk of 80mm+ on the SW facing hill slopes, so I'm afraid there is a lot more water to come down the water courses in the Lakes area.

A mild and very windy morning with some brightness inbetween the fast moving clouds. Min of 11.1c now 11.7c. Dry so far.

Can always tell a sudden mild/warm morning by the number of coats slung under arms of which there were many this morning!

None stop rain and wind. Now on flood alert with the rivers almost as high as this time last year when the area suffered a lot of flooding. This year the flood defences are higher so we have an extra 3 feet!

Rain since midnight - 28.2mm

Rain storm (2-3days) - 87mm

Here's The Eden this morning.

Considering we've now had 27.4mm of rain since midnight alone, it's quite staggering compared to this time yesterday; 5-6ft lower.

I'll see what happens today.
