Another windy day witrh early driuzzle dying out and the sky slowly clearing to give a sunny afternoon. The maximum was 13.4c.

a very windy day here windiest so far this autumn, with mean speed of 43mph at 2pm with gusts over 60mph its still windy now but has eased alot.

and still the rain is falling, 8 miles away form here there is raf helicopters rescuing people in cockermouth where reports say the water is rising 4 ft per hour!!!

and im not liking the look of the radar

Very windy and very mild today.

The most prolonged strong to gale force wind (SSW) for several years, however little in the way of damage I think.

Gusts to severe gale/ possibly storm force a few times. Did a wind measurement with my Skyview handheld anemometer from a hill and had 59mph gusts in just 10 minutes (the WS2300 misses the gusts and had only 33mph as the highest all day).

Cloudy with a few spots of rain and drizzle much of the day. Periods of only moderate rain since 1730. Not so windy recently.

An awful day here in the South Lakes. The River Kent in Kendal is exceptionally high many people were sent home from work early and its just a case now of hoping that the worst has peaked.

However, it is still raining so a rather sleepless night for many in the Lake District, Cockermouth and Keswick are definately the worst places hit. My fear from yesterday of a repeat of Jan 2005 have come true and for many in the Keswick-Cockermouth area it is worse although Carlisle has escaped this time.

Looking forward to a respite tomorrow, but it really isn't looking long enough and I fear that we will see major flooding once again on Saturday.

A bleak day and scene indeed.

It's been dry here the last couple days but the wind has been very persistant. Had a 30-40mph wind all day but now really picking up ahead of the front, just had a gust of 56.4mph.
