Thanks Dogs - you seem to be my ten minute warning today :)

Hopefully it can keep it up for the rest of the day so we can get a full covering.

How low tonight then?

It peaked at -1.4C about an hour ago and has started dropping already. I'm going to go with -6C if it clears (its cloudy at the moment)

If I can't have snow I'll just have to be impressed with the cold. Boring. Won't make Exeter much fun tomorrow either... not that it will be anyway the Saturday before Christmas!

I am going to go out on a limb here and say -7.1c. but it will be close between our two locations i am guessing.

Wind droping and last night with out cold pooling it got down past -4c

Cannot tell what it is at moment because my stations has dicon with internet for some reason at moment. blink.gif

Makes me laugh when the flights are delayed because of snow.

When I flew up to Finland the plane landed with snow covering the runway and took off in a blizzard, but I guess its what the pilots are used to. Was an odd experience coming into land in a true winter wonderland... did wonder if we would stop at the end of the runway, but no probs!

Courtesy of Nick.F blog he updated today

a segment from it

Tomorrow afternoon to evening, it turns snowy across Scotland, N Ireland and N England as an active frontal system drops down from the north, with a strengthening wind veering Nerly behind the front, so some drifting of snow with perhaps blizzards over the Highlands and hills of Nern England. This front reaching E Anglia and southern England by midnight tomorrow. Possibility that precip may fall as rain ahead of frontal system across Eire and more western areas such as west Wales and SW England with a small warm sector running down the west, but turning to snow as cold air undercuts from the N. Cold air undercutting the rear of front may allow some embbeded coinvection with perhaps thundersnow, though this less certain.

Which bit? We usually do very well from NW thanks. Although not as well as getting mild air hitting entrenched cold air, but at this stage of the winter, a couple of hours of snow would be just fine thanks :D
