A lot of these "showers" have not been appearing on the radar..

Some tiny flakes here, had the same earlier from blue sky before we had moderate-ish snow for a bit. Clouds on the horizon, which is limited from my view in a valley. Could be transient..

I'm no expert (speak to John Holmes on this one) but I believe that the radar does not pick up all of the precipitation. It's quite common for rain/snow to fall and not register on the radar.

Does this applies to light ppn only?

If you compare NW radar if you have access, to Meto radar; NW is picking up a lot more echos than Meto..

Not sure, I think it depends on the level of the cloud. Low cloud can miss the radar.....I might be wrong on this but looking at the Radar I can't see much around Glos/Cheltenham on the MetO or Meteo sites not that I doubt you lot have some (lucky B's)

I'm sure it does. I wasn't a good girl last year and Santa didn't give me a subscription to Extra. I think I need to sort it out :(

Meto is indeed a little hit and miss.

Perhaps I should get the NW one for the month ... although that would no doubt bring about a rapid warm up :good:

A query please,if you turn the NW radar to rainfall change scale to 'new' i.e easier to see prec in yellows/reds etc would this not give a better idea of what's really falling, obviously knowing it's falling as snow but easier to relate amounts etc.Is this worthwhile or am I just being a complete lemon?blush.gif

Hi guys, this is my first post here although I've been following the posts since last tuesday when I stayed up much of the night radar watching hoping for the snow day biggrin.gif. A first for me but I'm pretty sure I'm hooked.

I'm from the very east of Dartmoor and haven't seen any snow tonight yet. I'm actually due to fly out tomorrow morning from Exeter to go Skiing eek lol So I've got my fingers crossed for snow for everyone just after 9am if at all possible biggrin.gif
