I wouldn't rule out 10cm at all.

13cm seems a bit OTT.

Light snow here.

How many hours of Snow could Macclesfield get? and what kind of time will it hit us?

NAE has us under snow until 0600 wed morning, ukmo say snow turning to rain/sleet from about 0100 take your pick

the warning is for 2-5cm so i would side with ukmo and say by morning all but gone on low ground

Some heavy bursts being thrown in for good measure! No stickage yet though (as expected).

It's that idyllic fluffy stuff which seems to take aeons to reach the ground. :)

After a pathetic light spell for 30 mins or so, it's finally moving into the moderate category.

Starting to lay.

Let's introduce the category snow;

FACTOR 1 - Light snow

FACTOR 2 - light snow, starting to settle

FACTOR 3 - moderate snow, dusting

FACTOR 4 - moderate blowing snow with large flakes - settling readily

FACTOR 5 - Heavy snow, large flakes, accumlated.

FACTOR 6 - Blizzard like conditions, 5cms or more on the ground.

PLEASE USE THIS! :)

Light snow started in Warrington. Think this is going to be one mainly for the higher ground.

You what? How is it? It's coming down moderatly here and already sticking...

So explain how it's for higher ground?

Just this minute started to snow very lightly in Bury.

Hopefully will follow me all the way home to Bacup, an increase in altitude of about 800ft.

The problem for the Midlands is the timing of the front has come up right during the peak afternoon hours, from now whilst the dew points wil lrise behind the front still, temps will naturally start to fall as will dew points just because of the night time hours arriving and the sun going down, so more and more of the band will become snow over the next few hours even for the lower ground...northern regions are going to benefit from this a lot, as will Scotland.

FACTOR 3!!!

Has been snowing lightly here in south Liverpool for about an hour and is getting heavier now, showing signs of sticking!

I was expecting sleet and rain so I'm made up! Is it really going to carry on until 6 am tomorrow.....?
