The satellite shows a weak plume (narrow and faint line) from the Nabro volcano moving westwards. It's a bit more evident that yesterday or this morning but nothing major.

hi guys,

it seems that the info is scarce when a volcano is not near a highly populated area and there is total lack of webcams. I wonder if there are any reports on recent seismicity on this area.

A shame the USAF can't make use of their drones that (supposedly) can fly for hours at altitude without needing to refuel. Given interests in the Middle East along air corridors are/could be impacted in the future unless more data is gathered, I don't think it'd be to much to ask to borrow one of these drones for a day or two to do a recon.

probably not, kamchatka is a volcanic hot spot but there seems to be little, if any, freely available info, regarding monitoring of the region

Thanks John,

the satellite now shows the darkness appearing from the southeast and the plume as well as the thunderstorms have a shadows. It looks nice! :-)

Can see the plume from Nabro today... causing problems for regional air routes as the plume was reported as high as 35000 feet.

MODIS terra link

Soz Red Raven... i see you have already posted the sat24 run

I am glad Nabro livened up again. I was starting to lose hope! :D

Indeed John! The link says that this eruption was preceded by two small earthquakes.

It's looking good for continued activity I think.

Yes, me too! I think once again we have to face the fact that this area is sparsely populated, poor and not monitored much. I mean, it's been days since the first eruption and there is not a single picture on the web!
