Updates

With a 4.5 quake overnight...

Vast amounts of ash now endangering building roofs.

After a collapse overnight it does seem a bit less explosive today, still lots of lava streams though. The top vents had lessened to almost zero activity for a while, the mid vent with the lower lava outlet also lessened earlier today but has again increased with explosive gas and lava outbursts.

SO² emissions down on recent days but still not low enough to signify any end to the eruption.

I estimate the height of the cone now to be between 1,000 and 1,500m, lava fountains when they occur up to 600m.

The lava bombs often seen are the size of cars, some as large as trucks and even houses. The distance of viewpoint of the cameras to the eruption means this isn't often realised.

In the big world of volcanoes this is a little one, but fascinating none the less, a very photogenic cone, which has gas eruptions, lava fountains, collapses, vents, and lava flows, earthquakes, all at the same time. Will be able to learn much from the continuous footage that's been taken.

The footage is almost surreal at times if you listen to the audio, early morning you hear a cockrel heralding in the sunrise, often dogs barking nearby and people chatting and going about their daily business.

It's going for it this evening, afarTV feed 1, L Palma TV or TV Canaria on YouTube... Take your pick.

Timestamp roughly 8.30pm onwards, they are the same timezone as us. It is a live feed.

Doesn't seem to be any live feeds showing the new vent behind the triple vent cone in front. One thing I do note, earthquakes have been ongoing for a while now further east and towards the older volcanic ridge where the new vent has appeared.

Good show last night. Looks like fun in Iceland is over for now although we keep getting runs of tremor. Perhaps it's waiting for this eruption to end.

I guess this webcam is waiting for the ocean entry to start.

Afar TV feeds 1 and 2 are normally on the cone itself via feeds from TV Canarias with feed 2 having a Pip screen (picture in picture) of other feeds and info such as earthquakes etc, Afar 3 on the harbour or ocean.

La Palma TV has an alternative view further east to TV Canaria and recently has been excellent viewing of the lower lava vent and flows down from it.

The latest lava flow extent, unfortunately spreading Northwards, although quite a lot is travelling through tunnels to the sea as well.

A new 5th vent has began at the rear of the volcano...

The news gets worse.

The local water supply is now being affected by the volcano along with property roofs collapsing under ash weight. The solar farms are unable to produce energy for the same reason.

Look at the size of this chunk...

Quite devastating for La Laguna to have the lava turn and/or get blocked by the large chunks of rock brought down in the flows.

New map out showing the extent of the lava flow on La Palma.  I thought it was looking like the lava flow would reach the sea again but unfortunately it's seems like it's spreading further and further North towards more populated areas.

Partial cone collapse today in La Palma, yet to see if it slows the Northerly lava flows.

So what's going on on the rear SE side of the volcano,...a huge hole has appeared....

plus there is a new view from the sea on the volcano more to the SW side with another lava flow towards the SE.

Afar TV feed 3 is awesome, really shows the 4 or 5 vents really well, plus the newer flow to the south. This might be a good thing as the south is less populated and may take away some of the flow toward La Laguna. To be honest though, the smaller lava vent to the north has picked up as well and may well not make much difference. Becoming a real mess.

But, its an active volcano island over a hot spot, so should be expected I guess, especially when you see the size of the mounts in the background in the feeds.
